Re: RIP Paul Kanter

I'll be on the Big Island (again) April 29 through May 18th but I'll be on the westside. So it maybe possible to meet. I didn't know that you moved back but I haven't been on the board in a while.

RIP Paul Kanter

Paul Kanter, a founding member of the Jefferson Airplane died yesterday. The Airplane, Dead, Quicksilver and many more made the 60's in San Francisco a memorable place..... I think.

Re: Premier Cru files for bankruptcy

Luckily, Glenn tipped me off a few months ago that there was trouble and I swapped my remaining futures for wines that were available. As one of the past supporters of PC, I feel badly for anyone who got screwed. I noticed in the past 1.5 years that the deals were looking a little desperate.

Sacramento Wine Dinner

Greeting Guys. I am having the annual wine dinner. Any BWErs in Sacramento on Saturday October 12 are invited. Glenn is coming over the hump and Arv and Jenn are also coming. The theme is pinot/burg though Arv will bring an Italian, so there are no rules. I'll smoke something, maybe a prime tri-tip ...

The wine continues to evolve in the glass. It put on some weight. Tannins fully integrated. Nose added a hint of anise. Very enjoyable.

2000 Branaire Ducru

2000 Branaire Ducru Nose: Popped and poured. Looks young, still has a ruby edge. The scent is of floral sweetness and leather. Very pleasant. Medium bodied on the lighter side, no sign of bloat/fat. Medium concentration. Some may feel it's too lean. Enough acid for balance, still some tannins but ev...

It's not really an odd place either. It's on the main road into berkely from I 80 and its about 5 blocks or so from the highway. It's easy to get to and it has tons of traffic that pass it. Like Bill, my daughter lives about 8 blocks from there. I physically visit quite a bit. enjoy.

I don't believe the tigers had mo, but they probably believe they did. (read overconfidence) They played a terrible Yankee team and that series gave them the idea that they were bullet proof. We say the results. Once past the starting pitchers, Detriot was helpless.

Chasse it does make sense. Giants had momentum. The played 6 elimination games and won prior to the series. There pitching caught fire during the playoff. The Giants have excellent starters and the best bullpen of anyone in the post season. The bullpen was even better with Timmy , 2 time Cy winner, ...

I no longer buy en primeurs because of my age but I agree with DAvid's price statement. I do buy from PC for futures on burgundy and minor bordeaux where they announce the due date. None of the bottles could be called brette bombs. I thought there was a little barnyard in the 1990 but I didn't not feel it was a flaw. Again, these were wonderful wines but when I compare them, I tend to over-emphasize the negative in order to reach some conclusion. All the bordeaux were a pleasur...

Saturday's offline

So Arv, Jenn, Glenn, Linda and I enjoyed a lovely gathering on Saturday evening. We started with cheeses and a pinot. The opener was Roche de Bellene 2009 Taille Pied. A very structured wine, far too young to be anything other than an experimental tasting. Dark, tight with some minerality. Try this ...
