Re: The 2015 Siran has been uncorked and other musings.

In the end the wine becomes more earthy, rustic, it is a unique, charming little nuance about this wine.
Two thumbs up. Drink a bottle now, but wait at least another 7 years, as Leve says, before drinking the next.
It'll be interesting to see how this evolves over the years.
Rating: 95 points.

I hear you, jckba, I just wonder what is a fair recourse.
We had an issue a while back with a BWEer in a Boston restaurant involving a disputedly "cooked" 1975 Petrus.
It was an ugly little incident.

Re: The 2015 Siran has been uncorked and other musings.

Look, this is a table wine. This is a wine to be consumed with a meal that stands up to it. This is not a wine to drink in the loft while musing about the latest Netflix release. Again, if you love Margaux -- and show me someone who doesn't -- a case of this at about $360 seems like a no-brainer. It...

Good to know JC. I was trying to coordinate a pickup of some of your wines with Chris in CT but my schedule is really, really tight tomorrow, I don't think I can do it. The significant other will be moving up here for a while but keeping her place down there so I'll be in NYC a little less but still...

Ok that's good advice JC, thanks. I just figured I'll be in Scarsdale tomorrow, when you factor in gas, tolls, everything else, I thought it might be a good opportunity to stock up on 6-12 bottles for consumption in 2019. I'm picking up a case of 2016 Meyney and Tour St. Christophe.

Ah I guess that Felsina is not in stock, never mind.
I do need to get a little more Italian in my cellar though.
I think I'll buy some more of that '15 Produttori in NH tomorrow, that was a real crowd pleaser.

Come on guys can you just take a quick look at the chianti/italian selections, looks like some wines are on sale, I'm just looking for stuff to drink in 2019. https://www.zachys.com maybe you don't see anything there. How about 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Felsina at $24.99? That would seem like a ...

Re: The 2015 Siran has been uncorked and other musings.

It has a bit of a rustic, tobacco, earthy component that combines with ripe red fruit and robust cedar that just seems to be so perfectly and delicately matched. Jeff Leve thinks this will drink well in about 7 years, I can see myself drinking a bottle per year over a 7-25 year period. Love it. I'm ...

Re: The 2015 Siran has been uncorked and other musings.

Jeff Leve's 93 point note about this $30 bottle of wine: Silky textures, refined tannins and an elegant, fresh, juicy mouthful of earthy, ripe, sweet dark red fruits with nuances of tobacco, wet earth, cigar wrapper and a background note of licorice are a turn on. Give this about 7 years in the cell...

Re: The 2015 Siran has been uncorked and other musings.

Man I LOVE this wine. I'm really hard-pressed to recall a $30 Bordeaux that has performed better. Maybe those Poyferres and Duharts that we got for under $30 back in the day, but damned, in 2018, this is as good a value as you are gonna find out there. I don't know, I don't want to go overboard, but...

Off on vacation tomorrow in South Florida, figured I'd finish off the year with a... 2015 Margaux.... 2018 BWE WINE OF THE YEAR: 2015 CHATEAU BRANE CANTENAC

To me, this was one of the easier selections in the august nineteen year history of BWE. 2015, the most recently bottled Bordeaux vintage to hit the shelves, experienced a Margaux vintage of epic proportions. Wines from that area, from top to bottom, excelled. Many, at least in my experience, were &...
