Jim, Marjorie is planning on coming to the Thursday night dinner. Eric is bringing a magnum of Champagne, if you bring two bottles, we will have enough Champagne.

I plan on bringing the 1990 Conseillante and a white Burgundy (to be determined) and Yquem.

Jim, wondering if you were able to illustrate to the jury the difference in size of the defendant and the deceased? Sounds like the defendant was a very small person and the other guy was the size of an NFL defensive line man. Seems to me, being attacked by someone so much bigger would justify use o...

Re: What are we drinking in the Dog Days of Delta?

On Friday night, a showdown of 2008 Champagne - Dom Perignon vs Bollinger Grande Annee. They were both fabulous but very different, Grande Annee was rich and dense and seemed more mature than the Dom which seemed younger and was sensationally electric. These were followed by a wonderful mature 1982 ...

Flutes are fine for a small volume Champagne toast but I prefer a larger wine glass. My current favorite for Champagne is the Riedel Vinum Zinfandel/Riesling/Chianti wine glass. Next choice would probably be a standard white wine glass. I like a 3 or 4 ounce serving of Champagne and prefer to have t...

Tonight with jumbo lump crab cakes, gazpacho and roasted carrots - we went with Roederer Brut Premier NV Champagne. Nice entry level Champagne (about $45 for a 750) but the crab cakes and gazpacho were the stars of the meal.

Hot weather, more Champagne - liked the $45 NV Turgy Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru a lot more than the $60 2016 Suenen extra brut Blanc de Blancs Oiry. The 2012 Vilmart Grand Cellier d’Or was better than either of the two previous but not really worth the extra bucks (I think it was around $100). Chris ...

Nic,
That Laurent-Perrier Rose showed very nicely again last night. It’s a very good Champagne and it’s very popular with friends in our neighborhood. I go through about a half dozen of these every summer at informal gatherings on our deck or in neighbors yards.

Tonight more Champagne, nv Laurent Perrier Rose and the infamous Miraval (2020 vintage) owned by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie - they are still fighting over it 7 years after the divorce. Still, it’s very nice pale rose wine made by the Perrin family of Chateau Beaucastel.
