Re: President Trump

No complaints about the media reporting it. But they should be ashamed of the way they portrayed it when they knew or could have easily known that they weren't Clinton's emails. I agree with you that they have fairly rapidly begun to treat this more realistically. Three whole days of "Hillary's...

Re: Wine Openers

You can achieve the same result with a Monopol Ah-So plus the screw from a Screwpull with a little effort to get the alignment right. And at much lower cost. I agree that the Laguiole Sommeliers are beautiful and efficient. But they aren't as good at preserving a badly decomposed cork as a Durand or...

Re: NY Times article on Bordeaux

Funny, isn’t it, how it’s considered really cool when someone tracks down a lovely minor Burgundy or a wine from a little-known French region like Bugey or Lubéron, but Bordeaux is considered old hat and not propitious to such discoveries. Nothing could be further from the truth! That's why we have...

Social security isn't too hard to fix, as mentioned removing the tax cap would go much of the way to achieving long term solvency. And we are actually half way through the retirement pulse of baby boomers, I read recently, so things aren't going to get too much worse before they get better. Medicar...

Like a cherry on top, the older electorate have a say in the way SS is run currently while the younger or would be contributors in actuality are excluded. Talk about taxes without representation!!! I saw the film in DC earlier this month. Peggy and I both enjoyed it. Maureen Downey did a Q&A with a Post reporter afterwards. I think it's supposed to be available on Netflix at some point.

Re: President Trump

Well, Arv, the key is in the two incorrect assumptions in your first sentence: 1) That there is a team. There is no "Team Trump." Trump's an autocratic, dictatorial sort. 2) That they think. Not much of that going on at the top. Trump loves his own strategy and goes all in. So that's a bit...

Re: President Trump

Sex sells better than politics. The media has no more need for a close race to keep people interested. Fresh allegations of sexual peckerdilloes are much more effective. That said, I'm happy to see the tide turned against Trump. But still no reason for complacence. He's still an HRC slip or fall awa...

We'll see if it gets traction or is picked up by other news outlets. Further evidence of Trump sexually assaulting women may also be in the offing, and could drown it out. His pacing on the stage looked creepy to me, not dominating.
He did do better than the last one but didn't seem to be an overwhelming winner. And I'm pretty sure he isn't going to collect any undecideds with that performance.

Very sad news about Matthew and ongoing loss of life. I'm sure Ian's right about Trump not backing down. Even his apology was quite aggressive. No doubt the Trump side will be pushing Bill Clinton's past. Not sure if it will turn the tables any for the crucial undecideds. Bill Clinton's not running,...

I should clarify. I do love white burg at any age, but 1) to me, the young ones are not miles ahead of the competition and 2) it's just too jarring to drink it young knowing what it could/should be with age. I've never been able to get over that second point, though avoiding the category entirely ma...
