Interesting first post. I guess it depends on what you’re drinking. I wouldn’t sip hot coffee through one. Or a fine Northern Medoc. https://pasta.life/pages/faq

Tough call between Beychevelle and Talbot. Went with Talbot on the strength of those great Cordier wines. For some reason Branaire has been hit or miss for me.

Nice report, Jon, I wish I had your patience. I drank my last of 4 about 6 months ago. It performed just as yours did, taking an hour to open and showing plenty of exuberant fruit with some early complexity.

Re: COVID and wine - not a great combination

Not a fun thread folks. COVID has upped its game. I recommend using a product called Nozin https://www.nozin.com/ and masking of course. I bought a pack of disposable N95s. So far we have avoided COVID. Nozin can reduce bacteria present in the nose and subsequent postoperative wound infections. As ...

I figure if I'm not in trouble after a couple of months of my worst behavior, I should be OK for another year. Love the stories about your adventures in polit...

I'm not swayed by the whataboutism, Jim. And I don't care if this makes him look stronger to his loony followers. Trump tried to kill democracy. Calon Segur
Conseillante
Giscous
TWTSNBN
Leoville Barton
Montrose

I've been buying Tbills and rolling them over for a chunk of our fixed income assets. Literally and arguably financially less liquid than the wine in the cellar.

So sorry to hear Danny. Peggy had that the first time around. I was bringing her meals upstairs for almost 9 months, and the brain fog took almost a year before it completely cleared. That was in February 2020, so no Paxlovid back then. I hope yours clears faster.

My favorite TIC rating system was Stuart Yaniger's "Three Stooges Wine Rating System." I gave it three Curlys with a woo-woo-woo. Sadly, it no longer appears to be available on the web.

Peggy got the original version in early 2020. Almost total loss of smell/taste for 6 months. Slowly returned, with bad smells and bitter tastes coming back first. Took about a year to get back to normal. She got a very mild case of the omicron version in 2022 and had reduced taste/smell for a week o...

Ian, it’s a logical scoring system from your perspective and for those who take the time to understand it. For anyone else it will be confusing. It sounds like you enjoyed the Elio Grasso, “an ideal mid-weeker” even though it had its limitations. The first impression most would have to a -1 score is...

Stuart Pigott is English but lives in Germany and writes about German wines. James Suckling employs him to make travels to Beaujolais and write about wines. He is very fond of Mee Godard's wines and loves Jean-Marc Burgaud's Yes, 95p and up. It's funny how few wine critics find the time to learn to...

I’ll pile on to say I’ve been enjoying the ‘05s and agree with Mark about them starting to show well. I think they are still on the upswing. Some I’ve been afraid to open.
