I think this is going to be getting extremely ugly.
I don't know if you guys have been following Hannity at all but this is some of the lowest shit I've ever seen.
This Trump/Christie/Giulliani crowd is very dangerous.

1. LLC… And then everyone else: 2. Ducru 3. Leoville Barton 4. Gruaud Larose 5. Leoville Poyferre (seems like there is a bizarre downward view about this astounding estate, the only two-time BWE Wine of the Year Winner.) 6. Langoa Barton 7. Talbot 8. Beychevelle 9. Gloria 10. Lagrange 11. Saint Pierre

Trying to decide whether this is a compliment or a barb!Lastly, i see some similarities between Jimhow/Jal and Trump: they seem to all have more aptitudes than regular people to identify what is mediocre.

Whether in 2017 or 2019.

Just getting around to this thread. Interesting question, Ian. My list: 1. Lafite 2. Pichon Baron 3. Mouton 4. Pichon Lalande 5. Duhart Milon 6. Latour 7. Pontet-Canet 8. Clerc Milon 9. d'Armailhac I can't really add any others to the list, unless you want to add "Lynch Bages from the 1980s.&qu...
Re: Ruh Roh!
Ah that is likely the case. They don't ship to the great state of Maine. You might be getting the sales tax imposed because they are being picked up at K&L, rather than shipped out of state.

How about a Lynch vs. GPL blind tasting, a battle to see which of the two properties is more overrated.
Re: Ruh Roh!
Yep. They charge sales tax, and now they charge 5% buyers premium, I don't have shipping costs because Michael-P is kind enough to pick them up for me.

Re: 2000 Grand-Puy-Lacoste
Not sure where we are going to schedule BWE '17, Danny.
Ed and Lisa can't do April
We have historically scheduled around that April 1st/Final Four weekend.
I think people are going to find doing it any weekend other than that weekend is going to create problems.
We've been through this before.

Re: Ruh Roh!
Yeah, I thought the same thing. The fact that this is coming from the right side of the aisle suggests the idea has some legs.
Boy, these pols are gonna screw up the internet yet, aren't they?
Re: Ruh Roh!
we have high sales taxes here in maine.
not paying sales tax on internet sales is what often closes the deal for me, when you factor in shipping.
the sales tax from k&L auctions is what often causes me to fold my cards.

This is a real top notch effort. It has everything that I have loved from recent vintages of Barde-Haut, plus a little bit more. At first I thought it might be a bit too much alcohol, but it settled down quickly. It has violets and other spring flowers, a vibrant purple color bordering on black, and...

Guys. I get no joy out of this. I wish it were good. Trust me on this one. GPL sucks. It is MASSIVELY overrated. It is Lynch-like. It sucks, big time. I wish I were wrong on this. Like Lynch, it is living on the reputation of one or two vintages. It sucks. It is not a serious wine. It sucks the wad.

The 2010 Barde Haut has been uncorked….
Starting a little six day vacation period. It's been a busy summer, haven't had much time off. I've been looking forward to trying this wine, found it for $33 at that Allendale store. He Who Shall Remain Nameless scored it 94 points, which I believe is the highest score he has given this wine. (Not ...

Yeah that 2003 GPL is a disaster. You may be right about that 1990s stretch, Ian, I seem to remember liking the '94. I've always felt the 95 GPL was the best ever produced. I liked the 96 at one time but it seems to have not held up to the test of time. The 99, like the 03, was a complete disaster f...

I had the 2009 and 2010 GPL side by side at the last BWE convention in DC, two bottles brought by Marcus. The 2010 was undrinkably bad. The 2009 was tolerable in the way a $20 Mondavi from the supermarket would be. The 2012, the first time I had it I tried to convince myself that I liked it. I tried...

I'd put my money on the 78 GPL being brown and stewed and mushroomy. I mean, who has ever heard...

Re: 2000 Grand-Puy-Lacoste
I think Grand Puy Lacoste may be the single most overrated Pauillac. The 1995 was very good, bordering on excellent. There were 1982s that were good, but it was very erratic. For example, in our epic Chicago 2001 blind tasting, it came in 6th place out of 6 wines. Nic's 1985 is eh, decent. Far outcl...
