Will that be our general conclusion for the 95s— better than we feared, not as good as we hoped?

As much as I loved the bottle of 99 Jamet C-R we had in Denver, I thought the 99 Clape Cornas ran circles around it.

Is that just because I like Cornas better in general?

They have been chasing clawbacks going back to 2004 versus some large customers. The trustee hired some law firm that specializes in that, on a success basis. The Taittinger and Krug are both good (not great) deals at those prices, irrespective of vintage or cuvée. If the Taittinger is the 08 Comtes (which seems unlikely as that might not be released yet?), buy like the wind!

Re: What are we drinking in lockdown?

As much as I love a great Chablis, it doesn’t provide the same thrill as a Meursault, Puligny or Chassagne for my palate. I’ve had much better luck with some closer satellite appellations like St Aubin and even Rully at getting something like a facsimile for Chassagne or Puligny. But the white burg ...

Good point, Mount Eden ain’t cheap. I’ve been lucky to load up on it from time to time around $40 on the secondary market. And I usually can get the others for ~$30.

But I’d be all-in on a good white burg that cost <$50, I just can’t seem to find them (outside the occasional deal).

There is so much great bubbly out there, at pretty much all price points. I was totally jazzed by this wine on release and it was dirt cheap (<$30 at the time), so I Howed 4 or 5 bottles and laid down a case. I ended up selling 6 bottles during the Lafite craze (I was paid $135/bottle), and I’ve been holding off on the remainder. Sounds time to check back in, thanks Danny!

Patrick, the funny thing for me is that I remember younger Bordeaux (say, around ten years old) as being better when I was your age and younger. There were vintage exceptions, such as 1975 and 1986, but most excellent wines, even second growths, from, e.g., 1981, 1982, 1983, 1985, and 1987 were alr...

K&L's prices are quite competitive for 2019 futures (and their shipping rates are excellent, FWIW), and they are offering the option of a full refund if the tariffs are still in effect when these get bottled and shipped. Sociando is $30 at K&L. Do you think you'll like the 2019 style as much...

Tempting!

I think Lanessan is a top 4-5 cru bourgeois and it is (was?) made in a more serious vin garde style unlike many other CBs.
