Re: Sixteen more bottles of 2016 Chateau Lafite have been secured….

The New Hampshire folks ended up being very nice, I guess I've developed a bit of a reputation there.
They extended the 20% sale for me.

Re: Sixteen more bottles of 2016 Chateau Lafite have been secured….

Stash has been stored safely in cellar, surrounded by security of poison-tipped darts and jungle trip wires.
Inventory of Lafite now totals 34 bottles. I will drink well when I am 116 years old....

Re: Dinner at Bistro Lepic in Georgetown with BWE friends…

Yes, the 1986 Pichon Lalande used to be one of my top ten wines, it seems like "the tannins have outraced the fruit" in more recent bottles. Slightly alarmingly, I think the last three bottles of '89 Pichon Baron have been corked. I really enjoyed the dinner at Bistro Lepic. I vote for hav...

I’m glad you liked it, Nic, we were comparing notes with Jim Harrigan in DC and he agrees as well. The $28 price we’ve been getting it at is as good a deal as I’ve seen in at least a decade. I have two cases of the 2019 and a case of the 2020.

Re: 2019 Leoville Barton

Thanks for the report, Mike, I am in no way surprised that 2019 + Leoville Barton excelled, it’s as consistent a performer as I’ve seen in my entire Bordeaux tasting career and 2019 is as good a vintage. As I reported a few weeks back, the 2019 Langoa was my favorite ever.

Re: Dinner at Bistro Lepic in Georgetown with BWE friends…

Jimmy uncorked the 1978 Giscours towards the end of the dinner and it was profound on the nose and palate, almost youthful, it was one of my wines of the night. Both the 1989 Pichon Lalande and 1989 Palmer were outstanding, the 1989 Pichon Baron was unfortunately damaged. I’m not sure what to make o...

Dinner at Bistro Lepic in Georgetown with BWE friends…

Two very enthusiastic thumbs up for the food and service, thank you Joel for organizing, it was great to see Joel, Jimmy, Brian, David, Marcs, and Winona. We had our own private room, no corkage fees, I can’t wait to go back there again! Highly recommended. I’m on the road so I’ll be brief here, we ...

Hey whatever people feel is fine with me. Some of the lines are better than others. Some of the lines are trying too hard. I’ll bet the 2010 Mouton is an Mmm Doggie though.

I had a 2019 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou the other night that was a revelation.... 94 points.

Over two decades ago I drank a 1996 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou. It was swill. It was a supermarket wine at best. Thin, shallow, watery. No resemblance to the first label. For over twenty years, I have just basically kept away from this wine. Over the years, however, I have heard from some like Racer...

I was in Manhattan yesterday, there were four U.S. Presidents on the other side of the street. I'm in Washington now, going to meet up with some BWEers tomorrow night for some fine Bordeaux. No I did not see one on line, it is pretty extensive, but of course pricey.
We had a glass of Louis Roederer NV to start, then the Domaine des Lambreys, then a glass of Gevrey Chambertin with the final red wine based course and dessert.

Dinner at Le Bernardin.

We had such a wonderful experience last night at Le Bernardin in midtown Manhattan. The staff was wonderful, so professional, courteous, well-versed, but in no way pretentious or snobby. Our sommelier was wonderful, I focused on the white Burgundy page of the list and she led me to the 2018 Domaine ...

They have bent the rules for me before, letting me close out the purchases after the sale is over, etc. I would think they would be willing to work with me to sell me 18 bottles of wine for $12k but I guess not, ah well, it's not all...

The 2009 Giscours was a BWE wine of the year, Mark, I think we liked it in its youth but I agree with you, it was tight as a witch’s ass when I had it last year. I recall Musigny151 saying, if you like the 2009 Giscours wait til you try the 2010.
