Bill, I’m betting you must have had more bottles of St Innocent than any other producer.
For me, it’s probably Ridge.

Re: The fraud that is Grand Puy Lacoste.
The main culprit for a Napafied GPL is/was the 09, which showed poorly for a number of us on release (at least). I really disliked the 1982 as well, the other vintages just tasted blah I remember vividly how much I loved that bottle of the 82 GPL in NYC in 2012, the same bottle which you wanted not...

When lower wines make “First Growth quality”
Thinking about the 82 Talbot I just won, presumably a wine of “first growth quality”. What other wines have attained that exulted status? On the left bank, certainly the 82 Pichon Lalande. I’d add the 82 Gruaud, the 86 Pichon Lalande and Rausan Segla, the 89 Lynch Bages and Pichon Baron, and the 90 ...

Re: Have there been good Bordeaux made since the 80s?
Oh, that 1982 Talbot. At a blind tasting 20+ years ago. The wine I guessed to be 1982 Latour was revealed to be 1982 Talbot. Chris Bublitz Thanks to this outrageous enablement (a wine mistaken blind for the WOTV, the 82 Latour? Come on!), I just won a 3 pack of the 1982 Talbot. I bid on it to bring...

The only downside to consolidating was we had wait until a quorum of cases was reached, but they might have plans underway already for a pallet and truck to Denver; I got the impression they arranged this trip semi regularly.

Re: Hart Davis Hart shipping
Their shipping has gotten nutty at HDH. For a long while, they’ve told us they can’t even ship to Colorado anymore. But we found a work around by having a bunch of wine consolidated into a pallet and shipped direct to a wine storage company in Denver. Ended up like $5 a case to do this. You could as...

Re: The fraud that is Grand Puy Lacoste.
The 2009 in my opinion was the most fraudulent; a horrible wine that smelled and tasted like New World syropy, manipulated plonk. Based on my two goes with the 09, I completely agree with this. The best I could say about it was that it was totally Napa-fied. I like some older vintages more than you...

The 2010 GPL really stank in DC '17. For my mileage... -GPL serially underperformed from 1983-1988, but the 82 and 78 are very good to excellent. WEAK -From 1989-1996, I am a fan with the 1990 and 1995 being the highlights (but the 96 is growing on me). The 1990 might be my favorite GPL of all, it's...

He’s run on the economy. And his handling of the Coronavirus, connected as it is to the economy, will add more doom. Finally, I think a big part of Trump’s coalition is entirely fair weather and they will turn on him (or fail to turn out) once the chips are down.

I’m 100% guilty of cherry picking polls, it makes me feel better.
I agree that a poll 8 months out is pretty meaningless though.
I think the bigger point is a recession will crush Trump, more than it normally hurts the incumbent.

Monday, March 9
General Election: CNN Biden 53, Trump 43 — Biden +10
General Election: CNN Sanders 52, Trump 45 — Sanders +7
Trump is looking like a distressed asset.
Trump is a paper tiger and the first proof of a recession will sink his chances, to where he’s likely to get crushed in November.

Tom brought an 82 Talbot last year to BWE Denver that slayed it. We had the 83 Talbot in the same line up — a very good wine in its own right — and the 82 ran circles around it. So good.
