Re: BWE Impromptu Convention (6/15)

It was a pleasure to meet the newcomers that are Rich, Kalum, Isabella and Costa. All of them have the BWE spirit, that is clear. Rich was taking note on everything, the young Kalum enjoying every wine seriously, and Isabella and Costa becoming familiars quickly. I had the surprise that Isabella sp...

Agreed, Comte. That latest bottle of the 2000 was the best yet.

Man, Nic and I had a '96 Pontet Canet in my room the other night that was absolutely sublime.

Re: BWE Impromptu Convention (6/15)

Yes, 2005 Bouchard Le Corton en magnum was my wine of the night, but then again the 2005 Burgundy vintage was a BWE wine of the year protest vote. Just really smooth, I was surprised at how well it was drinking from what was a tannic vintage. 2005 Burgundy is truly one of the wine vintages of our li...

Re: Friday the 14th.....

Thanks to David and Marcus for leading the organizing and to everyone for coming. It was a really fun weekend, a great, interesting group of people. The food and service at both dinners were A+. Honest to goodness, that meal at Bistro Bis was one of the greatest in BWE history, in my book. What grea...

Re: '16 Beaucastel uncorked for Bruins game....

Yes it was awfully sweet. I’m not really sure how this matches up to other Beaucastels that are recently released. It is clearly a big wine with substance, whether it is over the top remains to be seen. There are four bottles sitting in NH at a great price, I’m gonna try to buy them on my way to NYC...

'16 Beaucastel uncorked for Bruins game....

Lord Stanley is in the building.
Let's go boys, let's bring it home.
I'm nervous!
Sipping on a very sweet and candied Beaucastel, this seems like a pretty immense wine.

OMG Danny if you found the 2003 GPL beyond a $9.75 supermarket level red in quality, then, yes, we will never agree about GPL. I respect anyone who likes this estate, but we are just going to have to agree to disagree. In my humble opinion, other than uneven 1982s and the splendid 1995, GPL may be o...

Agreed.
It's weird, it almost seems that the bottles I've had in the past five years have been more closed than those of the previous 15 years.
But both the mag and the smaller bottles in Colorado opened up beautifully by the end of the evening.

Indeed. Having consumed over 100 bottles of ‘89 Lynch, I have found many to be open and many to be closed.
One thing for sure is that it needs a lot of air.

Re: Spelling check

I have no problem using “Bordeauxs.”
“Bordeaux’s” of course would be possessive.
“Bordeaux” as a plural is acceptable as well, like lobster and deer.
But this is not like chateau/chateaux. It would not be “chateauxs.”

I'll never separate MichaelP from his case of 89 Lynch Bages

For several years I've been trying to convince Michael P to sell me his pristine case of 1989 Lynch Bages. $250 per bottle, I have felt, would have been fair. $3,000 for the case. We could have cut out the middlemen, the 20% commissions, taxes, shipping, etc., on both ends. But, tonight, two lousy b...
