Re: So what have you bought lately?
I feel like myself again! My COVID buying freeze was a drag. I wasn’t going to buy the Cos, but when I found out the last Lynch had just been sold, the shop keep mentioned that they were down to 2 Cos. I couldn’t resist. But really, I blame you, Ian! I wouldn’t have bought the Giscours even at $50 b...

Re: So what have you bought lately?
Agent Blanquito reporting... Adding today to my 7 bottles of 2016 Pichon Baron and 3 bottles of the 2016 Lynch Bages: -2 bottles of 2016 Cos d’Estournel ($130 on sale) -6 bottles of 2016 Giscours ($50 just the normal price at this shop) These prices were just too keen to pass up and if I don’t like ...

Re: catching up on random Rhone notes
Like many on the wine boards, Southern Rhône used to be a big part of my cellar and consumption, but it’s dried up to virtually nothing. Part of it was a palate shift on my part, but most of it was caused by the well-known shift to ever higher octane wines the region, egged on by the critics.* I sti...

Yes, that’s the one. Overall I prefer Levet more than faury for sure, but the 15 and 16 Faury VV were/are like $36 which is a great deal.brodway wrote:Blanquito...

Enjoying the 2009 Blanc tonight from half bottle. Richer than is the norm here in 2009, I think, but has the stuff to stand up to the fruit and sweetness. Really nice stuff.

Re: 2016 Lacoste-Borie has been uncorked....
Indeed, BobbyG, I'm planning on buying another dozen bottles of the 2016 Lacoste-Borie. I was very impressed with my first encounter with this wine. It was a delicious Pauillac true to its terroir. It is $28.89 when it is on sale in NH, a great QPR. Damn, Jim this is some high praise. You should tr...

Faury is making some lovely, serious Syrah at very reasonable prices (for the moment). The 2015 and 2016 Fauvy VV’s are delicious wines with terrific depth.

For me, Wind Gap in general is one of the great, unheralded wine operations in California. As much as I like their reds, I often enjoy the whites even more. Good to hear the 2014 is up to snuff.
