Patrick, do you use CT or some sort of program to track your TNs? I update drinking windows whenever I find a wine drinking substantially younger or older than expected. It’s far from foolproof, but I do look at them before opening a bottle. And it’s more accurate than my memory at this point.

Most of those descriptors sound about right for a shut down 5 yo Bordeaux, though heavy extraction is worrisome. I'll quote Blanquito and say it needs 5 years. Maybe 10. Then again, if it's not giving you any hope for the future, no point in keeping it.

My first Prieure Lichine was the 1983. I ended up with 2 cases of it and have bought the wine on and off every few vintages. Often very good but not great, and at times an excellent value.

Nice summary Mark. I think you've nailed the two-phased effect Parker had on winemaking. I'm not sure it's possible to point to a specific year where the switch went on and everyone suddenly began making better wine in cleaner facilities. More like a phase-in over the late eighties to early nineties...

Cold and often sounds good to me too. And with a day or three in the fridge after opening if they can avoid our gullets for that long.

As to age, I like them young, love them middle-aged (as they turn gold and early copper), but don't like them old (fully copper to brown or dark caramel/chocolate).
