Re: Just call me the white Burgundy man....

Like most of burgundy, Niellon’s prices have sadly shot up. Definitely a BWE effect.

Re: BWE in Manhattan….

Someone once wrote that, compared to Willie Mays, we are all but mere mortals. Indeed, perfect wines are so rare. To add a little additional counterpoint to our deservedly glowing reviews of these wines — it was an epic wine night, up there with the best of them I’ve been to — a “critique” and score...

Re: President Trump

Most of the time, it seems the choice we are given is: (a) prosecuting (let alone convicting and incarcerating) the former president will utterly undermine and weaken our democracy, vs. (b) letting Trump get away with it will utterly undermine and weaken our democracy. Assuming for the moment the ri...

I think the lowest I scored anything this night was 93 pts (aside from the Laville), and based on potential I’d probably go as high as 98 on the Mouton.

Re: BWE in Manhattan….

If I could vote again, I’d move the Mouton to my fav, the LLC to number 2, and the 96 Cos to third. Everything showed so well. I liked the 94 PLL more than Ian. The Latour was brilliant, as well as the Lafite, but both are still a long ways from their apogee. I also really loved the Ygrec and the.Ru...

Great write up, Ian. Our impressions converge quite well despite being at opposite sides of the table. I have an alternate slate of electors who’d like a word about the brilliance of ...

Yeah, this really isn’t a first amendment issue. I can well and truly believe something, say that a wine store is too expensive and I was ripped off when I found the same wine cheaper elsewhere (and I am allowed to say this on BWE as loudy and often as I like, speech is indeed protected), but my int...

Given the high bar involved in proving intent, as Howard’s article makes crystal clear, one must assume the prosecutors have compelling witness testimony and evidence — the recorded call to Brad Raffensperger is probably just the tip of the iceberg. What if someone like Mark Meadows comes forward an...

Two bottles of the 1998 Domaine de Chevalier (rouge) at auction. I really enjoyed the 2000 DDC recently and these 98s were quite fairly priced, so it seemed compulsory.

Other than the 82 and 86, I've had very limited success with Mouton (and Latour, but I've had so few of those). In contrast, Haut Brion and Lafite almost always are a thrill.
