Re: The $29.00 2002 Calon Segur has been uncorked….
This is just perfect. It is absolutely what I look for in northern Medoc Bordeaux. It has a bit of earthiness to it, but it is that seductive cedar, raspberry, quintessential St. Estephe profile that just knocks me off my feet. And completely 2002 in character. At twenty-nine bucks, that's crazy! 94...

Re: TN: Pilgrimage to S. Florida- '82 Bordeaux with Stuart
Of all my many Stuart experiences, perhaps my favorite was when he, Kathy and I drank Spanish wines on a Friday night in SF at one of the BWE conventions.
The wines were great, the company superb.

Re: The $29.00 2002 Calon Segur has been uncorked….
This is why I love the Medoc. Wood, cedar, restraint, lead pencil on the nose, raspberries, cherries, that whole Lafite-Cos-Sociando-Calon thing going on. When you drive up that far north you almost get that edge-of-the-world feel as you cut through the little town of Pauillac and get up the little ...

We saw Javier Vasquez the next night in Game 7, when he came on in relief as gave up a grand slam to Johnny Damon, the first batter he faced, at which point I was in utter nirvana.

It still seems all surreal to me. For at least ten years I've felt this guy was doing exactly what he was doing. But there was that little part of the brain that said, no, come on, he really can't be doing this, so blatantly, right? And for at least a decade I've felt the guy was looking at about 5 ...

Yeah, the mainstream media is indeed very weak.
Myself, I don't get the John Stewart phenomenon.
He does nothing for me, I don't think he's funny at all.
But, to each his own.

I don't know if you've been watching Fox News lately, especially Hannity, but some of the stuff they are putting on there is incredible.
Wow is Hannity suffering right now, I love it. I hope he doesn't get the last laugh though.

The big man came to Maine yesterday. He was introduced by our crazy Tea Bag governor, Paul LePage. He had clearly been fed some hate talking points. 2004 La Lagune just doesn't quite have it, does it.
I mean, I like my wines mouth-puckering, tannic, stern, stoic, dry, like licking a chalkboard. And this has all of that. I thought matching it up against a nice juicy grilled strip sirloin would do the trick. But this is just a brutally tannic, humorless, green-streaked effort that, hey, don't get m...
