Re: Timmy is in town, who's joining us for Friday lunch?

Ok meet us in the lobby of Le Meridien, 333 Battery Street, at noon. As for wine, I don't think I'm going to drink much anyway. And you know me, I'm not afraid to drink red wine with fish. I could bring the '82 La Dominique but I would have to get to K&L at some point to source a bottle or two f...

I don't have any wine, all I have are my wines for tonight and tomorrow.
Do we have any pinot?
How does their wine list look?

Timmy, can you get to Le Meridien by noon?

Re: LYNCH vs. BARON IV: EARTHQUAKE IN SAN FRANCISCO

I even recorded the vote results David as Patrick announced them, a perfect opportunity for voter fraud and I passed on it in my benevolence. The problem I had was that I knew wine #1 was the Lynch, but I also knew that it was the wine showing least impressively. So I just hoped I was wrong and ende...

Re: LYNCH vs. BARON IV: EARTHQUAKE IN SAN FRANCISCO

This was a great showing for the Baron. It was open on the nose and vibrant and velvety on the palate.
It hit hard from the beginning and pummeled the Lynch from the first round to the last in an overwhelming decision.

The '89 Lynch, having taken this fight on short notice, is resting comfortably after a jarring cross-country flight.

I haven't had many recent vintages Alex but my observation is that they seem to have gone Rolex on us. And, other than perhaps the 2000, what vintages I have had have been quite GPL-like. Plus, their Parker points leave something to be desired. How can they be considered successful if their Parker p...

As when I first drank it upon release this wine evolves so dramatically from tannic and sour cherry to rich, smooth, raspberry with just about an hour and a half of air. Perhaps the most brilliant $25 bottle of wine I have ever tasted.

I know we took some heat for the 2005 Burgundy vintage as a "protest" wine of the year on a Bordeaux site, but let me tell you something. As near as I can tell, the 2005 Burgundy vintage is about as great a vintage from a wine region as I have experienced. Even these $25 wines (now $35-40i...
