Re: Let's get together in DC sometime soon.

We always recommend against plea bargains, my associate Jesse Archer and I prefer to go to trial. But very often we are made offers that our clients can't refuse. I'm going to press the judge tomorrow for an exact trial date. I hope we can see you in DC on June 15th, MichaelP! I'm assuming Nalan won...

Re: Burghound's cowardly 88-91 ratings....

well, you know, I would indeed like to buy 2-3 mixed cases of some nice Burgundy to round out my cellar. But when I read that a wine is 89-91 points, it's like, dude, why are you wasting my time? I'll go buy some 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape at a fraction of the price and with some critical certitude th...

Burghound's cowardly 88-91 ratings....

I mean, come on, Burghound. Jesus, you are the Susan Collins of wine ratings. 88 to 91, 89 to 92, etc., etc., tells me NOTHING about whether I should invest in an already overpriced new released Burgundy. You been dong this long enough, big guy. You'll survive if you are "wrong" in your ea...

Do the "top" 50 or 100 wines, or their rankings, change significantly from vintage to vintage? I doubt it.

Re: Let's get together in DC sometime soon.

The trial is definitely not going the week of June 10th, which is bad, and most likely would start on June 17th, which would be bad. However, I'm cautiously optimistic. We are having a suppression hearing this Friday and I think there is a high likelihood that the DA will either dismiss his case or ...

Re: SHL

That SHL visit was spectacular.
The Cathiards were so nice to us.
The 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 SHLs are splendid.
I do think the 2005 was over the top, but I thought those latter SHLs we had at the estate were great.
The 2006 is back to form.

Re: Let's get together in DC sometime soon.

I just talked with Nicolas, he is up for it. I have a manslaughter trial that is going to be scheduled in June. It will last 3-4 days and will start on either Monday, June 10th, or Monday, June 17th. If it starts on June 10th I will be able to be in DC for June 15th. If it starts on June 17th I will...

I'm out.
I'll pick up a mixed case for early consumption when they appear on the shelves in NH circa 2021.
I'm gonna buy about 200 bottles from 2016 to round out my cellar, and that is going to be about all she wrote for me.

Re: Sipping on a 2016 La Dame de Montrose.... Mmmmm.

This was just a beautifully integrated left bank Merlot styled wine.
St. Estephe Merlot, not a rough spot to be found. Deep purple of first label depth.
Everything in place for a lovely 1 to 15 year experience. I don't know how "Montrose" it is, but I will buy more.
Rating: 92 points.

"Abdict" is Quebequois idiom for "give up," a derivation of "abdicate." I'm "abdicting," or "abdicating" the critics... I'm "giving up on" the critics, like a monarch might abdicate a throne.....

Interesting note. My recollection of my one bottle of the 2005 was that it was just too hard, like the 2000 Montrose I drank young with Jacques and others, and the 2004 Lascombes I drank young with the Blanquito Brothers and others. I'm sure the 2005 will free up but I'm guessing it will take many b...
