Re: What's the best way to get from Bordeaux to San Sebastián?

I visited San Sebastian twice, April 2019 and 2022, just after the end of primeur week in Bordeaux Yes, the easiest way is to take the train from Paris or Bordeaux St. Jean, and 1st class is a must. Like Claudius2 says, you leave Hendaye station, go 100 meters, then go to Basque station, buy a ticke...

Alex,

Chateau de Villeneuve from Saumur Champigny was the favorite producer of the late Didier Dauguneau and is making a powerful Cab Franc. Their 1995 tasted some years ago was an impressive effort with gobs of life and certainly not a weakling.

Light body for this variety, you say.🙄

Trotanoy is cheaper than VCC and L'Eglise Clinet and at least tenth of the price for Lafleur, Le Pin, and Petrus. It was in Bx during the harvest in 2006. Here is my assessment of the weather in September/October taken from my website: September started with scorching, sunny, and humid weather, foll...

barsacpinci, It's a big surprise for me that 2006 Trotanoy was so splendid. 2006 is generally not so good vintage on Right Bank, due to Merlot not being perfectly ripe. I did taste some 2006 St. Emilions and they were hot and fragile. Apparently, they did some magic at Trotanoy. In March 2020 I arra...

You obviously haven't ever tasted Cabernet Franc wines from Saumur Champigny.

It all depends at one's immune system. However, I caught it and lost my smell and taste senses for about 3 weeks. Afterward, both came back pretty quickly. It happened in December 2021. Stuart Pigott is English but lives in Germany and writes about German wines. James Suckling employs him to make travels to Beaujolais and write about wines. Alex, I think there's a typo in your post. As far as I know, Henri Lurton is the owner of Brane Cantenac, not Gonzague Lurton. The latter is the husband of Claire Lurton (Haut Bages Liberal and Durfort Vivens). Brane Cantenac imho never is a blockbuster wine but typically Margaux wine with elegance ...
