Re: Poll: Have alcohol levels risen because of Robert Parker?

Can it really be true that global warming has had a factor in alcohol levels rising so significantly in just one generation?
If so we are surely doomed at a very rapid pace, are we not?

Re: WSJ on Fake Wines

I'm optimistic that my "ancient" bottles of 1918 Haut Brion and 1958 Lynch Bages are not fakes. Whether they are anything other than undrinkable swill remains to be seen. Both will be uncorked this year, the Haut Brion in celebration of its 100th year birthday, the Lynch in celebration of ...

The 2003 Duhart was great in its youth, it was on the cover of WS.

Re: 2003 Bordeaux -- is anyone else skeptical?

Yeah, I think there have been some good and some bad. Those 2003s we had early on with Patrick were delicious. Sociando, Leoville Barton, the early Duhart, were great. GPL was a disaster from Day One. The great enigma, of course, was Pontet Canet. It was like a big Mouton at the outset, but it seems...

I listened to Trump tonight for about 5 whole minutes, the most I've listened to him at any one time since he was elected.
Boy, he really is suffering from some level of dementia, no?
He has really slipped mentally since his campaign speeches.

I agree with everything you say Ryan but I've never bought into this whole "drinking-two-glasses-of-red-wine-a-day-is-good-for-you" theory.
But I agree, live life now.

Poll: Was Robert Parker "Good" or "Bad" for Bordeaux?

Robert Parker was around from, what, the late 1970s to about 2012ish. During that time the wine world in general and Bordeaux in particular changed dramatically. Were the net changes for the better? Did the wines become higher in alcohol, more extracted, less balanced, more "Parkerized"? O...

The 2005 Haut Bergey is not a significant wine.

Thanks for the report danzur. I had that wine once, when it was young. I thought it was too perfect, too clean, too much of what-Parker-is-looking-for-in-a-wine. I thought it lacked personality, very well made but boring. Give me a green streak or something funky to mix it up a little, give it a lit...
