My only question becomes, which one of you cleared them out of the 05 SHL?

Re: Neil on the left side, north 2010

Well I have good news and bad news for you brodway. The good news is that it doesn't much matter that you didn't partake in any futures purchases because the futures game has changed considerably and gone are the days when there was actually a savings associated with parting with your money some 2 y...

Re: A 2002 right banker that's drinking OK

JonB,

Would be interested to hear if you had the chance to taste the 10 Gravette de Certan as I purchased a case without having tasted it and was just curious if it was already drinking or if it was something I should relegate to the bottom of a stack? Thanks!

While I feel like I could swear on my previous posts and my recollection, I suppose that I could be wrong and perhaps sampled a little too much of the wines over the course of that afternoon. I feel stupid and am at a loss for words.

I did and I could have just have easily included Clinet in my preferred wines as well as it showed black and blue fruits along with an chocolate expresso like aftertaste (91-93 in my book).

THIS WAS A DIFFERENT WINE AND APPARENTLY NOT THE CLINET, NOT SURE HOW THIS HAPPENED

Re: 2014 UGC (Vin 2011) Standouts for me. What are yours?

I attended the NY UGC for the trade this past Monday and came away with similar impressions to your own, the reds were pretty much uninspiring save for a select few (Pichon Lalande, Gruaud Larose, Leoville Poyferre and Canon la Gaffeliere) while the whites (DdC, SHL and Pape Clement) and Sauternes (...

Re: 2004 Chateau Gruaud Larose

I had a btl of the 2004 Gruaud Larose earlier this year while out at Bobby Vans in Bridgehampton for $120 off the list and can second the fact that it was drinking well. While not the biggest nor the most complex, it was what I would call a perfect claret, an 89 or 90 point wine that is drinking and...

Re: What are your thoughts on 2013 wine of the year ?

I have 2 opinions that I would like to make. The first being that I think the WOTY should come from the most recent Bordeaux vintage and in this case that means the 2010 vintage. I also attended the 2010 UGC and had the opportunity to taste through a majority of the chateaus that participated in the...

Re: Need advices for a Bordeaux tonight

96 GPL is a great, great wine that has been coming into its own over the last couple of years and I would pick that hands down and would probably also let it breath in a decanter for 30 minutes in order to allow for it to open up fully.

2010 Monbousquet uncorked ...

This started off dark and brooding, a napa-esque nose of blackberry twizzler and cedar which was very licorice and spice driven on the palate, quite good but still very youthful with the alcohol poking through a little (93-95)

Purchased for $38.99 at Total Wine in Norwalk, CT.

And while some may certainly complain it is too modern in style, compared to the 05 it is an absolute classic. Lets also not forget that it was the runaway winner from an assortment of other top wines from the 2004 vintage at an EWS event several years back. www.erobertparker.com/members/ews/ews142....

Re: 2009 Leoville Poyferre @ $210/btl. Buy?

Continuation to my prior post as I could have pieced it together better: I also thought Saint Julien was one of the better performing / more consistant communes in 09. And as to the stylistic differences, the 09 Poyferre was definitely more fruit forward / modern in style to let's say the 09 Barton ...

Re: 2009 Leoville Poyferre @ $210/btl. Buy?

I tasted the 09 Leoville Poyferre back at the January 2012 UGC in NYC and for me it was certainly one of the top wines of the day. With that being said, when I came home afterwards that night and started checking prices on winesearcher, if I remember correctly, the futures price here in the US was a...
