TN: 1985 Pichon Lalande (from magnum)

Several years ago, my wine club decided it had too many older wines in its cellar to drink in a timely fashion. So we decided to do a "wine dividend" to distribute a few bottles to each current member. I happened to receive two magnums of 1985 Pichon Lalande for which I'm been seeking an o...

Damn straight. I think we all have that experience of seeing a civilians jaw drop in astonishment when we even hint at how much wine we have
When asked I "estimate" a number that is about 40-50% below actual holdings. :D

2003 Pontet Canet

It seems this has been a "controversial" wine among posters here over the years. Some felt it suffered from the hot growing season and lacked what one would expect from a Pauillac, and especially from this producer. I actually bought two cases of the 2003 because I could see that the price...

Re: The reality about 2016

Nic, count me as a major fan of 2016 Tuscan wines. I have enjoyed several Chianti Classicos, And I have stored away a few cases of my favorite producers' riservas, based on their regular wines. I've also really enjoyed the 2016 Rosso di Montalcinos for current drinking. And based on tasting those, I...

I have one bottle of the 1983 Gruaud Larose that I got as a "dividend" from the cellar of my wine club in Chicago. I keep saying I'm going to open it for a special meal, which never seems to happen. Guess I should just open it and enjoy it.

The restaurant sounds great, Jacques. I'll have to remember that if we are ever in Sarasota (we have acquaintances who moved there a few years back). I've really enjoyed the few 2015 Brunellos I have drunk. They tend to drink well on the young side, with lots of fresh fruit and moderate tannins to s...

I think that both 2002 and 2005 were considered excellent vintages in Burgundy. I think the 2005s might be a bit "bigger" than the 2002s. But I have had no problem enjoying either vintage.

Pretty nice weekend line-up, Jacques. I'm curious about the Grasso Nebbiolo. Is that one that you buy regularly to have some experience with consistency? I'm curious because the current release vintage seems to be the 2019, which I'm tempted by based on your comments about the 2017.
