Re: TNs: 1989 Clerc Milon, etc.
Other than the lack of plump in the mid-palate, the Clerc seems terrific. This is a good property getting better, and I'm sure there are many BWEers that have this wine on their short list. Say and 05, maybe 09, should give a great reward if one is young enough to wait 15 years or so. That is if the...

Re: TNs: two white Burgs, a Tuscan and a South African.
I don't have a cellar anymore of older white burgundies, so I too have been drinking younger vintages, say from 07 on. The youthful nature as JonoB says is just as appealing to me as some of the older ones-zesty and racy with still the great adjectives given in your notes. From Pouilly Fuisse throug...

Thanks for the notes on the white burgs. They are the whites that I drink the most of, far and away. The domaines may
not always be familiar ( to me ) but that is what's great about these classics. Their small hand-crafted nature, that is.

Re: TN: a mature White Burgundy.
You could have been describing a higher appellation burgundy. A good/great bourgogne blanc is a deal, but you must taste first, buy if you like it, give it enough but not too much ageing, and enjoy a great white burgundy at a "modest" price when mature. As much of a reason to have a cellar...

Wish I had a bunch of this old school claret to drink now. You described a classic. Hard to believe how recent the modern style really is with
the exception of the 82's which created a roar. I will make it a point to buy older vintages if I can find them. Good job. JM

Very nice negociant effort from a fine vintage. Rich fruit, although not the packed intensity of a smaller, hand-crafted domaine-still enough stuffing. Just got back from a Tasting at Opus. Sat. 22nd-their "blessing of the grapes"afternoon tasting party. Beautiful setting and day of course. The 03 was ripe and evolved with supporting structure and got the palate ready for the tougher tannins to come. I don't know if it was as hot in 03 in...

Your enthusiasm for the 04's is well justifed. Hard to believe they are already 8 or so years old. Vintages that show restraint as compared to the riper ones are welcome. "Lesser"vintages can often balance the desire to make modern wines, hence producing excellent clarets. At least that is...
