Re: Question for Rick re Numanthia

I just tasted a Vin de Pays form the South of France that costs $8.50 on sale. I'm going to buy a btl on fri and give it a try with food this weekend. 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% of a grape I've never heard of. It tastes more like cherrys than any wine I've ever had. I'll get back with the name...

I was in a discount store the other day and saw a screw pull that was made of steel for $5.99. The plastic ones usually are about $20 and break. I also bought knockoff "Rabbits" at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $9.99 from the Wine Enthusiast. It's a four peice set that has the Rabbit, a foil cu...

Jim that was the Priorat Palacios, they make Ermite which goes for $600.00 the Les Terrasses 04 is better than the 05. Both were on closeout sale for $25 and $27 from $45. You needed to open the 04 at least two hours or better yet open, decant 1 hour , put back in the btl and drink the next day. Out...

I actually cut the capsule to pull the cork some two years ago. I went to BWE search and decided against it as it is the sole btl I have. I wait another 3-4 years, or until a consensus here says it's ready to play.

Dave Beckwith brought a 98 Evangile to a 98 Right Bank Dinner that Arv hosted some 5-6 years ago. I was so impressed I bought a btl (at a great price, thank You) from Josh. It was the winner in that blind tasting. I'm holding onto that btl as it's the sole Evangile I have. I'd like to hold it three ...

Jim 06 White Burgs are excellent and drinking well now. The vintage has the minerality of the 04s and ripeness of the 05s. I have a half-dozen 06s, I drink them now. Ramonet is one of my favs, sugguest you buy a btl of his Village wines and the same for his 06 Premier Crus.

Danny,

BV and Calera were the first Cal Pinot Noirs I took to . The Calera "Mills", "Jensen," "Selleck", "Reed", are all excellent vineyards. I've never mistaken these wines for Syrah, as I have with some other over extracted fruit bombs I'v drunk.
