Re: TN: 1996 Carillon Puligny Montrachet Les Perrieres

Carillon has always been in my top five White Burg Producers and Perrieres along with Referts are favs. Of course his Bienvenue is to die for if one is lucky enough to drink one. Last one I drank was the 99 brought to Jackdaws home a month ago by Jil & Jacques, many thanks, (along with an 03 Che...

Bummer Glenn, It was a beauty in its' youth. Don't give up on White Burgs, just don't age them past 6 years anymore and you should be alright. I drink a White burg at least twice a month, I'm down to my last two btls of 2002 (Corton Charlie- H. Boillot and Meursault Perrieres-Matrot). I've found the...

Riesling Fan 1990 Zaltinger Sonnenuhr *** Selbach Oster

David, I was thinking about opening this btl in the 375 mm format today. I looked for some notes on Cellar Tracker and saw you (I believe-Rieslingfan was the name of the reviewer) wrote a nice note (96 points) on this or the reg 1990 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr. I bought the 05 Pavelot Dominode and the 05 Pavelot Beaune Bressandes. I agree with you that Pavelot is the best source for Savigny and his Dominode is the best. I haven't bought much Bize since the 93 vintage. His prices became too high for me although they were quite good.

Dan, Without a doubt, Burgundy is the most dangerous place in the wine game. Fortunately some recent things have somewhat lowered the risks involved. 1. global warming- German vintners used to get 3 good vintages out of ten as they are north of Newfoundland. Proxsimity to rivers has helped form micr...

It may be as we had discussed, the confussion between Carruades and the Grand Vin Lafite, as is the La Fort with the Grand Vin Latour in Asia that is driving the upward price.

The only Carraudes I have really enjoyed was the 96, I've one left, wonder if it would fetch $1,000 in Hong Kong.
