2018 another solid vintage? Sounds like an unprecedented five year run of quality.
Re: Charmail
I only ever had the 2003 in its youth and it had a lot of acrid, "dilly" (as one of our friends here liked to say) oak tannin, like a modern Rioja or RdD. I saw an offer for the 2016 recently touting the intensive investment and modernization. Proponents of cold, pre-fermentation maceratio...

They have a few name brand Bdx, Bill, at various price points, but most that I wouldn't pay. One they've had this past year that was fair was '15 La Tour de Mons for $22. This was $8.

No Haut Bailly or Pape Clement mags in Kona. Still, ...
Kona did not have any Haut Bailly or Pape Clement, let alone $100 mags. It did have a nice "Kirkland" 2016 Bordeaux Superior. And oddly the cepage is 75% CS and 25% merlot. It appears that the producer is Chateau Petit-Freylon. It is located in Saint-Genis-du-Bois. The nearest place to it ...

I don't think I mentioned it but I ordered a case of 2016 Lanessan for $16 per. The idea is for it to go mano a mano with the 2016 Lagrange I ordered previously. I do kind of regret that what's his name--HlFdB--is consulting at Lanessan now. He obviously has a great success at Angelus (at least as f...

Despite being co-owned the HB is qualitatively different from the BH, at least in vintages I've tried, and not just in the way that left and right banks tend to be qualitatively different due to varietal, geography etc.

It probably wouldn't work with your schedule but you could have a rolling BWE on the Denver-Winter Park ski train. Union Station right to the Gondola (brand new) base now and back, same day. I ski WP regularly when in Colorado and will be there for 10 days come February.

I think it was the '95 GPL (or was it the '96) Jim poured when my wife and I visited his fastness/redoubt in the great Maine Fatherland back in the late oughts. While it did not make the Holy Trinity among the other many great bottles he shared that evening it was preferable to the "100-point&q...
