Wow those notes from the old site are awesome. I had self imported those 82 Carmes Haut Brion around that time, as it was achingly hard to find in the US! We miss you pappadoc! (Actually just picked up an 2019 Max. Grunhauser Herrenberg Kab! a very nearby vyd to the Auslese mentioned in the old thr...

I find the Argentine versions to pair well with grilled beef. I have not had Cahors since I was ITB and we sold Chateau Lagrezette.

Nice to see love for Oregon and SI. I have yet to be wowed by Momtazi. Should I drink my single 08 now? Also sitting on 3 2008 Special Selection, as yet untasted.
Older Dominus would be my Meritage winner.

Yup, 91 Cabs rock.
IIRC 91 Dominus used barrels originally intended for Petrus. As no Petrus was made in 91 the barrels were shipped to Napa.

2018 Bibbi Graetz Casmatta. Vermentino, Trebbiano and Muscat Tuscan blend for $5.99 at Grocery Outlet. Dry and crisp with a moderately complex nose. My new house white. We get some of the Foley wines such as this here, probably from a local wholesaler. That is a crazy price. I tried to buy a bottle...

I wish I could contribute notes on recent vintages of OR PN, but I have bought just a handful of bottles post 2014 and none have been tasted. Between 2017 and 2018, is there a consensus on which vintage is the best balanced? Enjoying 2013 Walter Scott Vojtilla Chardonnay now. After the reduction fad...

NV Laherte Ultradition Champagne, disgorged 2011. In a good place, 60% Pinot Meunier.
2011 Rhys Bearwallow PN, secondary development with some lingering fruit. Really good, glad to have aged this one.

I like the Primitivo from Montoliva Winery in Chicago Park, CA. They are less than 15 minutes off of the I80 Colfax exit and do a really nice job with Southern Italians. Their Primitivo does have a different flavor profile than Zinfandel.

Nic, I admire your Italian adventures. Food only makes the pairing better.
2015 Barolo I suspect is a ripe expression. My wine epiphany was an unnameable 1974 Barolo in 1982 when I was a waiter.
Using mushrooms and various truffle products is an Umami explosion.

1990 Angelus starts out with lots of suprising bell pepper notes which dissipate after an hour or so. Wonderful texture emerges. Bought on release but not worth the current price.

Just got a case of 2009 Trotanoy for $235/bottle all in. The auction notated 4 scuffed labels but for $150/bottle off the lowest U.S retail price I’ll take that risk! Assuming the condition is as advertised this should make up for some of my auction screw ups this year :-) You might be able to find...
