Re: BWE DC 2021: October 2nd Saturday dinner - details, final count

David, et al. I may have to change my plans and stay in Paris longer than expected, which means bowing out of the convention. So at this point I am at risk. I should know tomorrow and will let you know where things stand.

There is nobody on this site with a busier schedule than me, Timmy, it is hard for me to cut slack. I lead by coming in early, year after year, decade after decade. I demand a lot of others because I demand a lot of myself. It is called leadership. You are lucky that I am kind and benevolent. Those...

Oh you guys from the west coast who fly in at the last minute before the Friday night dinner. You’re so smart. You have a lot more faith in airline schedules, weather conditions, etc., than I do. I’m actually coming in on Wednesday, although I’ll be dealing with non-BWE related stuff til Thursday e...

Let's also hope it works when it goes into orbit, as it can't really be repaired from space.

Its orbit will be 4x the distance of the moon to the earth. Which makes it unreachable by today's manned spacecraft.

But if it works, it will be spectacular, although very different from Hubble.

I've been away from Paris for most of the past year, so haven't spoken to him in awhile, but I know he just had his first Academie des Vins Anciens dinner since Covid a week ago (these are the BYO dinners that I used to attend). He posted about it on his blog, in french of course.

Ok, I went for Montrose, LLC and Baron. A lot of it depends on how hard your water is. In Paris, I would wash and hang my glasses but they always had spots on them. But the water in Paris is notoriously hard with lots of calcium.

Older wines from the Margaux appellation. While of course Chateaux Margaux is usually a winner, I have had more than a few disappointments from virtually the entirety of Margaux. Once they hit a certain age, they take on a stewed tomato flavor. Even Palmer has displayed this characteristic.
