Re: Re BWE California

Here's what my friend said about his house in Napa (within the Napa Valley Country Club area). Although it makes things very easy, I wonder if enough of us to take it, would want to be so close to each other for 3 days straight! My house has 8 bedrooms. One of the larger bedrooms has 2 beds, so a to...

Re: Re BWE California

How many people can stay at the Robin place? Would it take all of us? Can anyone ask Alfred?

I have a friend that owns a big house (with a pool) in Napa that he rents out for a week (or maybe even 3 day weekend). It might only take 10 people but I'll ask for details.

Ultrasonic noise?

If I put a pest (mice) control device (that uses loud 110db ultrasonic sound) in my cellar (actually I'm thinking just outside the cellar as there's no evidence of mice in the cellar) will it harm my wine?

Re: Clive Coates

Coates has a palette closest to mine than any other major critic and I have used his wonderful and fat book on Bordeaux to help guide my cellar filling. The only problem is, as far as I am aware, he hasn't done Bordeaux, or a book about Bordeaux, in years, so I use others to wind my way through the ...

Re: SF BWE with Jonathan P

So at the end of the dinner we took a few of the bottles that still had some decent amount of wine in them. That was mostly about 25% each. We stuck the corks back in and put them in our fridge (typically a bit colder than most fridges) when we got home. No Argon etc. Because we were busy, we got to...

Re: SF BWE with Jonathan P

I agree with everything SF Ed said, except my WOTN was the Y. I know I've had it before, but I don't recall the vintage or that it was so complex and interesting, changing with every sip. Wonderful! The 00 Lynch was my red WOTN. Terrific to see the old core BWE SF crowd again and hope to do it again...

SF Ed:

I think your table is too small since we are about 7 right now and potentially more.

Napa only works if some people are willing to sleep on an air mattress.

Shall we look for a San Francisco restaurant? Gamine's?

Nick introduced me to Moulin Touchais when a group of us went to Montreal a decade ago. I promptly bought a few bottles then and just noticed the 59 in my cellar a few days ago. I need an excuse to open it. Nick, when are you coming to Napa? :)

San Francisco offline - Sat 27 Aug - with Jonathan P

Looks like Jonathan P may be in the area the end of next month, so what better excuse to gather some BWEers for dinner and wine?

Anyone around, available, interested?

Marcs and I tended to agree on the 50 Gazin, although I thought it was the most intellectually interesting wines I've had in a while. The nose was amazing with all kinds of crazy stuff like yellow curry, sandalwood, potpourri. It was sweet and thick, but a bit jumpy.

My WOTN was the 96 HB.

I am all for a tasting to start (after the champagne reception).
But since Nalan is only in DC that Sat, I can't take time out to help organize a blind tasting since we'll be tourists on Sat (with more BWEers I hope!).

Do we have anyone in the DC area that we can ship wine to in advance?

Sadly, you can see me on the long list too.
$8k. Very painful for me and I'm kicking myself for not taking action sooner.
I doubt the credit card company will do anything since it's so long ago.

I suppose it doesn't matter that I filed a small claims suit against PC in Dec 2015?
