Re: 2009 Monbousquet

David, I agree that the Monbousquet during Parker years was over naked/extracted with 2015 my last vintage as well. When the 2009/10 were released on futures the price was right and I put up a trial balloon with a case each. I was certainly concerned at how disjointed this was early on and up to las...

2009 Monbousquet

This has finally turned the corner from an awkward disjointed head scratcher last year to a well rounded delicious St Emillion. Tannins almost resolved with bramble berry plum nose and palate with peppery notes and well balanced at present. A very enjoyable drink at this time which I was suspecting ...

Re: 2019 Lytton Springs, two thumbs up; 2019 Chateau Montelena, bleh....

Jim, You're not referring to Montelena Estate Cab as bleh? It would be too young to drink for most and though I haven't had this in over a decade through the late 70s when it started through the late 90s I thought it was one of Calfornia's finest. Isn't it well over $200 and even the Napa Valley Cab...

Re: Recommendation : white wines for the summer

Nic, On our Spain tour we wandered through many bottles of Verdejos. Refreshing, crisp, citrusy and 11-12% mostly. Some are a little blah but we sampled through enough to find many favourites. South African Chenin Blanc can be fun if they are dry. The off dry just don't do it for me. Albarino from m...

Blanquito,

Some great wines to crash through the freeze with.

As far as I remember from our visit there are only two varietals grown in Sancerre, Sauvignon blanc and Pinot Noir not cab franc in that rose fyi.

Great start in Le Capital National de Quebec with the infamous Jimmy H. Tried to keep it light and easy starting with a crisp citrusy 2020 Francois Carillon Cote d'Or Borgogne. Musigny, Your comment on 13 years may or may not be an issue for FC. A lot of fine Bordeaux at 13 years in my opinion have seemed awkward and I believe this has been discussed in the past on BWE that one should avoid drinking 13 year olds at the cost of disappointment. May be fact or fiction but I'v...

Jim, I had some of these and the 05s in my cellar and not to my liking for sure. Too Californiaesque with Parker heavy handedness all over it. Harry For the most part I've enjoyed the 05s but they are evolving at a glacial pace. Jim,

You are one of few that can cut through those young tannins and find joy but who knows maybe with a little air and modern wine making this baby may surprise you and others. So ITNOS why not? You only live once and with 5 in tow you've got one per 5 yrs and that brings you to what 80-85!!

Can't disagree with anything said or included on anyones lists.
