Re: Worried with 2020 red wines of Bourgogne

I have tried several whites and found them to be excellent. No reds yet but, as always with Burgundy, it's all about the producer....at least for me. It was a very early harvest, if I recall correctly but the whites I have tried didn't reflect heat or drought as the acids and fruit were balanced. I ...

Although I have to say 2014 has to be the best pleasure vintage I have tasted from release to present day. Every wine from left to right bank has been wonderful.

Re: 2010 Cantemerle

Hello Joel. I just really liked where it is drinking now; fine bead of acidity, layered, long, and balanced. I've got 3 more and plan to drink two in the coming months and save one for a few more years. I have quite a few older Bordeaux so I don't really need more aged wines, although I am certain t...

2010 Cantemerle

A blast of cooler weather brought the season's first fire in the fireplace. Along for the ride was grilled picanha (top sirloin cap), creamy stone-ground polenta and the seasons last zuchinni. Now to the star of the dinner, THE 2010 Cantemerle......just lovely. Perfect cork poured straight away. Dar...

Re: TN: 2010 Gruaurd Larose

Right? I was a huge fan of Edmond Vatan Clos Neore Sancerre years ago and recall how frustrating it was to open a bottle and deal with the little bits of wax that inevitably fell into the bottle. Same with Dunn, as you say. I'd be interested in opinions on why winemakers use this method. It may look...

Re: As BWE winds down after over 23 years.... My note to jean-Nicolas.

While I don't post a lot of notes, I am forever a Bordeaux lover and read this site daily. I am saddened by all of this and hope that we can forgive and move on with happiness. Wine should bring us together. Perhaps time will soothe the souls and provide us with an opportunity to reflect on the many...

Such a wonderful and consistent producer and as Jim says, great QPR. Another nice thing about Pavelot is you can find older vintages such as 2017 at or about the release price.

My distain for Trump aside, he did propose most favored nation clause on drug pricing that was struck down after heavy lobbying by pharma groups. I would venture a guess that regardless of one's political leanings, that program would have been very popular.

All personal preference, I think. I rarely decant but my rule of thumb is to open the wine and smell it. If it offers no aroma, I leave it open in the cellar for up to 8 hours, checking every so often to see if the aromatics have released. If I open a wine and the aroma is singing, I cork it for lat...
