Re: TN: 1998 Clerc Milon

Four hours into the wine and it continues to improve. Very tight and muscular. A little darker profile that I originally thought. Rich berries with some coffee and minerals. Very impressive.

Re: TN: 1998 Clerc Milon

Nose: now evolving to cedar profile. Taste: cassis, cedar, excellent complexity. Finish: The finish is the achellis heel of this very nice wine. The finish is a little short about 30 seconds. There is a slight drying sensation. Nonetheless this is a winner. I really like wine. I believe it will reac...

TN: 1998 Clerc Milon

Well the wife went to Carmel for the weekend, so it is time to start the weekend festivities. Popped and poured. Color: medium ruby, translucent. Not very leggy. Nose: Floral, berry, vanilla bean. Nicely engaging. Now picking up a faint touch of new sawdust. I'll give it a few minutes before tasting...

Re: My first TN, on the new BWE

I had a 2000 Cantemerle sometime mid 08 and it was just a super wine. This chateau seems to have hit its prime starting in 2000.

Re: 2003 Pontet Canet

Patrick, it is modern but it's not a bloated or nebulous mass. The body and the fruit concentration may have as much to do with the vintage as with the winemaker and consultant.

2003 Pontet Canet

In honor of this inevitable moment, I opened a 03 Pontent Canet on Saturday. I am please to state that wine is developing nicely. This was positively the best bottle that I've had so far and I've tasted it on five different occassions. The wine still is full bodied, and deeply concentrated. It still...

Re: WELCOME TO THE NEW BWE!

Thanks Jim and to all the helpers and facilitators. It looks great.

BTW I dropped BordeauxBill. I felt stupid with such a bombastic name since there are so many here who have a better handle on wines from our favorite area!
