Thanks for sharing the article. I imagine that other wine regions across world are or will soon be in a similar position.

Re: Good luck Harry C!

I mean, was it like that for the Cardinals all year? That was ridiculous. I'm a turf agronomy guy. They likely used perennial ryegrass to overseed the Bermudagrass to fill in the gaps and make the turf look nice on camera. This turf species has a very slick cuticle and is known to produce a playing...

Re: A pair of 2012's

2012 Louis Jadot Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugien (375 ml) PnP. Stony, mineral-laden nose; coaxing reveals a mixed berry aroma. This needs time. Excellent mouthfeel but lacks fruit. Hold until 2025. Side note: this is exactly what I don't get about Burgundy. An 11 year-old wine from a half and a lesser v...

A pair of 2012's

2012 Malartic-Lagravière Rouge (375 ml) A very good wine from start to finish....not decanted. Smoky, hot stone and gravel nose. Very engaging wine...thought-provoking. Dark fruits, mid-level tannin framed nicely with an elegant bead of acidity. Lengthy finish carries through with smoke, gravel, an...

Having grown up in a family that entertained many a European guest, I was exposed to classical wine from France, Italy, Spain and Germany before Parker entered the wine scene. My taste in Bordeaux never aligned with him, although like Joel, I did spy Parker scores and even subscribed to his newslett...

Re: Which producer was your gateway into the perils of red burgundy?

Oddly enough, it wasn't a red burgundy that got me interested; it was a 1983 Chave Rouge. I find that older northern Rhone syrah and even some well-judged older southern Rhone (Rayas, Clos des Papes and even Beaucastel) can express some of the qualities that mimic a good red burgundy. That was my ki...

A huge favorite of ours. Such a consistent producer and one that offers a wide drinking window. I wager we have more of this producer in the cellar than any other in Burgundy. Burgers and Bordeaux

We enjoyed grilled burgers and a lovely Bordeaux. The 2002 Leoville Poyferre was absolutely delicious. Opened and poured into glassware with no decanting. Operatic nose burst from the glass and all I can say is this is classic freakin' Bordeaux. Loved it. Perfect and in the window. A 5 star effort.
