TN: 1992 Le Bon Pasteur
I'll start this tasting note to say that I am not a fan generally of Le Bon Pasteur. When we were in Paris and visited the Rolland lab, I concluded that Le Bon Pasteur was my least favorite wine of the trip. It seemed overdone, overripe, overconcentrated, and completely out of balance. So when one o...

Have you guys discussed when such a dinner would be? I haven't been keeping up with the board lately and would still relish an opportunity to fly over to NYC.

Re: '08 Bordeaux: first of the big guns out, at -70%
Down 40% is not very much? That seems an extravagant thing to say. Do you know anything else that goes down to that extent? Doesn't seem very realistic to me. I think it largely depends on the basis of the reduction. If the price rose 50%, one year, then went down 33% (thereby negating the initial ...

Out of curiousity, does anyone know how to get vinexpo bordeaux tickets if you aren't in the wine business (short of creating a fake company...)?

TN: 1964 Château Lascombes (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux)
1964 Château Lascombes - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux (3/29/2009) Popped and poured, cork broke but was in reasonably good shape otherwise. Sourced in Paris with provenance direct from the Chateau (according to the shop), fill was into the neck. Gorgeous brick red color, only slightly lightened...

Re: 1994 Bordeaux
Personally I love 1994 Bordeaux. They aren't as big as the 96's, but I find them mature and classic in style, but not lacking in fruit like some of the truly lesser years. Had a 94 Montrose this evening that was really nice, not overwhelming but had the finesse that I would come to expect from a sol...

Re: Just returned from Bordeaux
I'd still like to see us organize another Bordeaux trip at some point (albeit perhaps a bit less hectic). The Lynch Bages lunch was one of the highlights. I remember (and you can barely see it in the picture) the table was covered with rose petals, which reminded me of my first taste of the '89 Lync...

Re: My Top Twenty Favorite Moments from the "Old" BWE
This actually reminds me of another great moment. Josh Wertlieb posted an alert about an incredible sale of Lafleur at the PA Liquor stores (for those that are unaware, the state of PA has a monopoly on wine sales). They had marked the Lafleur 99 down to $53 a bottle, and the 2000 was also marked do...

2003 Château Troplong Mondot - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (1/31/2009) Decanted around 6 hours. Beautiful deep purple color. Extremely tight and closed down. Re: TN: 1999 Château Lynch-Bages (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac)
Its interesting, I've found that many Lynch have been way off in off years. While the best years are truly exceptional, the so-so years are not particularly kind to the wine.
