Re: What are we drinking in the booster boon?

2015 Chateau Canon, St. Emilion I assume eventually it may no longer be cool to be uncool and contrarian about these modern Bordeaux, but damn I did not like this wine. Sure, some of that could be vestiges of the past, knowing what this wine once was, but a merlot-dominant Bordeaux clocking in at 1...

I am -shocked- that no one has mentioned Gilles Barge in this conversation. Did a horizontal tasting of 98’s a few years ago including most of the “biggies” mentioned in this thread. The Barge was among the best. Was thrilled to get a few bottles from Lyle Fass 3y back and they have been among the ...

Re: What are we drinking in the booster boon?

Oh boy, this makes me a little giddy as the 90 Figeac is a come to heaven wine for me. I think the 98 is better, more crisp acid. I love that 1990 as well, but it is definitely kissed by the sunshine of that vintage. So, having won a 3 bottle lot of the 98 Figeac recently (for an irrational sum of ...

Great thread. I’m with Pat, Cornas is my sweet spot. Clape was my Northern Rhône epiphany wine back in the 1990s. My faves are Allemand, Juge and Clape. On Cote Rotie, my regular buys are: 1. Jamet - I put Jamet at the top spot. Getting pricy but gorgeous stuff. Balanced and savory. The 1998 and 99 ...

Nice description Patrick. Last Levet i had was the Améthyste and it was almost like you described this Chavaroche. Rocky mineral, broth and fruit. Nothing modern in the wine.
