Re: So what have you bought lately?

Oops! I did not win as many as I thought. I lost on

6 1998 Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir Laurene
and
1 2001 Rieussec + 1 2001 Suduiraut + 1 1983 Doisy Vedrines + 1 1987 Maitre d'Estournel Blanc.

Oh, well, that gives me an excuse to buy more on Berserkers Day.

Interesting that Nic has a multicolored beard. I remember when he was too young to grow hair on his face.

Re: So what have you bought lately?

While waiting for my doctor to finish a colonoscopy before doing my endoscopy (I hope he washed his hands in between) I discovered that I had won a few lots at an auction: 6 2017 Vaudesir, L. What is the risk exposure if you buy with MC or VISA CC and ask for quick shipping? Unless the published agreements have changed since the PC debacle, I think the risk is nil. These days I only buy online with a CC even if I pay a premium for using a CC instead of a check just because of the protect...

Great line up of wine and people!

It is always fun to have a taste off between the great 1982 Latour and 1982 Mouton, while 1990 Lafite shows that Pauillac is not all about power.

Re: Xmas 2023

Here is an interesting footnote on the bottle of the 1986 Pichon Lalande we drank on Xmas day. I corked the 2/3 of the bottle that we did not drink and put it into cold storage. Yesterday I tasted it. It was somewhat oxidized, of course, but I got nary a hint of taint. I poured a glass for stefanJr ...

This year was too hectic for me to keep a journal of our holidays, but I thought I would share the dinner experience we had on December 25 with stefanJr and family. We've drunk three 2005s recently, all of which were good or better: Coufran, Pedescleaux, and D'Armailhac. I was surprised at how good Pedescleaux is. D'Armailhac is fuller and but not better overall for drinking now. Best to drink Pedescleaux now and hold D'Armailhac a bit longer.

Great report as usual, Ian! It suggests that 1998 left bank wines are underrated, possibly because the 1998 vintage on the right bank was arguably the best of all time.

Mine are the same as Stuart's, and his comments are spot on. I considered vintages 1960-2004 as I have drunk too few wines from vintages before or after that period to include them.
