TN: A change of plans ('00 Fleur du Bouard)

So my intent had been to open a '98 Clerc Milon, but I needed to move a '00 FdB to get to it, so opted for the Lalande de Pomerol wine instead. I am glad I did, as it is drinking quite well now. It is still somehwat youthful, but is developing some leafy, cedary elements to complement its dark berry...

Getting back on the horse

The other night I opened a full bottle of classified Bordeaux from my own cellar for the first time in I don't know how long. It was a 2000 Branaire, and after a couple of hours it was singing. Certainly still a very young wine, but delicious. So at long last I am back interested in a part of my cel...

Might be time to stop parsing every single word used. I really doubt they word-checked his post before he put it up.

His full time employment is writing for the Wine Advocate. What word he happened to use is probably driven by conventional language more than considered thought.

If I have discovered one thing across the wine web these past weeks, it is that the Parker controversy has made us all rather intemperate.

I think we should all take a step back, and forget the words of the last 3-4 weeks.

Jim, David Schildknecht personally addressed the issue of late 2006 Burgundy coverage. He fell on the sword for not getting it done. He has the notes, but has not put them in a publishable form as of yet. He's stretched like "butter scraped over too much bread" (to steal a line from my fav...

It has gotten out of hand, but a couple of points while you sharpen your pitchforks & light your torches: 1. Mark Squires does not rate Ports. That way Pierre Rovani's job, and is now Jay Miller's job. Granted everyone seems to hate Jay Miller (including me, but for somewhat different reasons), ...

I agree that Parker has been stung by the whole thing, and I also agree that it's not world peace.

eBob stopped being fun about 2-3 years ago. I keep going back because I have friends there that I connect with, and I keep hoping to read some of David Schildknecht's rather densely packed prose.

A few points: 1. Mark Squires has been tasting & writing about wine for years - from way back to the original Prodigy days. Add to the fact that virtually anyone (except perhaps Daniel Rogov) would be new to Israeli wines, and the world is only just now waking up to the quality of Portugese wine...

That's one of the great conflicts. Bordeaux mixture is allowed because it's all natural ingredients. Of course too much copper is itself toxic, but let's not worry about that, we have dogma to preach. ;)

I don't mind the hocus-pocus that goes along for the ride so long as the result is good wine. But I still like to poke fun at the hocus-pocus. Complete agreement with you that the producers of biodynamic wines tend to be very meticulous about their growing and production methods. Combining that wit...
