I could give you some advise on shipping options, but if you may move back to Colorado, it may be easier and less expensive to ship a smaller quantity of cases via UPS or Fedex in shipping boxes, and store the rest in a Colorado wine storage. So if you can "cherry pick" what you want to tr...

Re: 2011 Pricing still sucks
From the little I've read, it seems to be an irregular vintage, with Pomerol perhaps the best AOC, and perhaps comparable to 2001 or 2008, with lower alcohol levels than 2009 and 2010, and bright acidity.

I just received my first futures offer....2011 Cos d'Estournel $164/bottle, JS92-93, WS 90-93....and Pagodes de Cos $49/bottle JS88-89, WS 89-92.
Far too pricey for me.....perhaps RP reviews will make it seem more like a value.

I've never tried a Magdelaine, but see the 2009 on special at PC for $50 (pre-arrival). IWC put out reviews on a Magdelaine verticle about a month ago, calling the wine "misunderstood" and "penalized over the years by wine critics looking for size rather than finesse." Still, the...

Re: Call me Lemming. Hear my confession. 2009 Bordeaux and I
Nice point total, Blanquito!! I bought 4.5 cases early on (between Montrose, Poyferre, Pontet Canet, Duhart, and Pavie Macquin), and since then have only purchased smaller lots of what I liked at UGC or regularly buy, (and then a few at a half-off sale at PC), for just under 10 cases. Other than the...

I'll 2nd the 2005 Haut Bailly, if you like silky, ethereal, complex wines from Graves....it's a stunner. That's not far off my futures purchase (that still isn't delivered yet). The '08 Troplong is a large wine, dense wine that is very good for the vintage. The '08 Pontet-Canet is right around the i...

It's been my impression that he has touted 2001 (as have many other reviewers) as being underrated for some time. Still, it is not an "investors" vintage because it was not proclaimed to be a stellar vintage, just underrated. So I doubt investors are going to jump in and drive prices up wi...

Not that I place any great faith on cellartracker notes, but the preponderance of notes the past 3 months look to be different bottles of 2003 Pontet Canet than yours, Mark. They seem to point to a bottle coming out of its dumb phase that is clearly outstanding with some Bordeaux characteristics and...

A quick review of my cellar shows that I have 263,752 points. Is this good? These Jadot wines in general seem to be built to reveal themselves with age, and the Beaune wines (as someone commented in a recent thread) are bargains that outperform with age. http://www.louisjadot.com/en/wine-pdf/beaune-clos-des-ursules.pdf I haven't opened any 2005 Burgs in some time for fear b...

There is certainly a large spread just among US reviewers, with RP an outlier on the high-score side. WS gave no 100 pointers. IWC (Tanzer didn't review yet, and will be doing the in-bottle reviews) reviews were much more modest as well. It'll be interest if 20 years down the road this will be anoth...

Great notes, thanks! While I haven't tried the 1990 TM, I enjoyed the 2005 at a UGC event and ended up with a fair stash of this. I'm not sure how much of this growth in bordeaux consumption is bulk, but I would guess it is a large component. In bulk, the wine is transported in tanker trucks to either bulk tanker ships or ISO marine tanks for overseas shipment. It may or may not be labeled as Bordeaux or go into bottled wine.....
