Re: TN: Ducru 1990
Guys The only vintage I’ve had that was badly affected was 88 though I gave up buying this wine from 88 until 95 as a result. Pity as DB was a regular buy and a personal fav in those days. So were a few other seconds such as PL and Cos but well times have changed. I got some inside information on wh...

Re: Report on 2022 vintage and tasting notes from Jane Anson is out
Izak I’ve not tried any 2022s - will go to the UGC tasting of 2020s here in balmy Singapore on Wednesday. My point about Australian wines is that the addition of tartaric acid is common here particularly in mass produced wines. Given the generally warm conditions, some TA is rational though it can l...

Jim The 2020 according to Bordoverview in Euro46 which is around USD51. Over here the retail price will be higher - not sure what it will be yet. I’d guess SGD100 after the 19 was around SGD80. It isn’t a great wine by any means but I’d say it is not just a supermarket wine, if that implies average ...

Guys All my 2019's - and I bought quite a few - were delivered to Singapore a year ago, and I've bought several more Chateaux retail since then. Guys I started buying this wine from 2005 vintage onward. No experience with older vintages but the wine since 05 has been very good and typically Margaux with that complex, fragrant berry character. The 05 jumped out of the glass with heaps of fruit meshed with forest floor and oak characters. That...

Well I busted.
Been saying no more Bordeaux buts this year but just ordered a case of 2019 Ch Pontet Canet.
I tried this some months ago and really liked it. More power than most 2019s but in a nice way.

Arv I'd look to drink the 05 in the next 5 years. The 2008 is ready to drink now, with the tannins largely resolved. It won't get any better I'd imagine. Still a fair bit of acid - just needs a bit more fruit. I may be being a bit harsh with it as my tastebuds seem to be affected lately (post-surger...

Guys Sipping this now. At 15 years old, it is still young. No browning at all, and will last for many more years. Although this isn’t a top rated Pomerol, the wine is pretty good, and maybe I should have kept the rest of the case longer. The nose shows a lot of tobacco, savoury, earthy characters an...

Guys I refrain from using the term precise though I do have in my own mind a specific definition of it, and it has two components. Firstly it must imply balance, giving the wine a sense of completeness or wholeness. Not too much of anything - including sweet fruit, alcohol, acid, oak, tannins etc. I...

Guys, largely agree with these. I don't want to rank them, though based on the wines I have tried, I'd rate 2016 as my favourite as they are classically styled with density and power. Guys
Based on tastings of the 2019s, 2026 and 2010s recently, I’d say the following:
Langoa Barton
Giscours
D’Issan
Haut Bages Liberal
Pontet Canet
Prieue Lichine
Dufort Viviens (not tried 19 though so tentative sssessment).
