Re: Lynch Bages smashes it out of the park in the 2018 vintage

Ambrose, Tom Parker doesn't specify in his write up if it's his opinion or average of TNs from all participants. I especially wait for Neal Martin's TNs as in my opinion he's been kind of harsh on 2018 vintage generally. Also, TNs from Lisa Perrotti-Brown should be interesting. An American palate am...

Re: Lynch Bages smashes it out of the park in the 2018 vintage

I tasted around 500 wines from the 2018 vintage in February to March 2021 at my home in Copenhagen. Here are my two cents. I'm afraid I have to disagree with the MW guy from Farr Vintners on Pauillac. Lynch Bages is a superb wine, but Lafite, Mouton and Comtesse are better in my honest opinion in te...

Re: Bordeaux in November 2021 - big report on several vintages!

Jim, 2019 Burgundy is becoming utterly expensive. I just heard from an importer of wine fra Arnoux Lachaux that 2019 is 100% up compared to 2018, meaning that Premier Crus from him will cost more than super seconds from Bordeaux. Another producer, Perrot Minot, increased prices by 50% already from t...

Jim,

I've neither tasted R.Segla 2019 from the barrel nor from the bottle.

There are so many excellent 2019s. Corbin?

I'll soon start to ask chateaux in Bx to send me bottles from 2019 for tasting.

Re: Bordeaux in November 2021 - big report on several vintages!

To make it easier for readers who would like to have an overview of a single vintage, I put my TNs from November 2021 marked by violet colour in each chapter, meaning 2020 barrel samples, 2019 barrel/bottle and 2018 in the bottle. In each of these three, TNs are at the bottom of the report. :D :ugeek:

One night this time at Ibis Euratlantique opposite Bordeaux train station. I get an upgrade on my booked room there because I have stayed at this hotel for the last 7-8 years. 7 minutes to the centre of Bx with tramway and so easy to catch a bus to the airport.

Re: Bordeaux in November 2021 - big report on several vintages!

Danny, I've done it for years. It's not difficult to schedule the visits for 3 people or 4. The problems occur when one of the group starts asking chateau owner om everything between heaven and earth, delaying tasting and delaying others. I always try to be in the given area and choose chateaux clos...

Re: Bordeaux in November 2021 - big report on several vintages!

JoelD, I think 2018 is better than 2015 in terms of creamier fruit, better tannins and more precision. This vintage is so homogenous over the whole Bordeaux and even in satellite communes, the wines are just stunning. I don't buy verdicts from other wine critics (among them some famous ones) that it...

Jim and PghMike Tasted 2020, 2019, 2017, 2016 and 2001 at the property in November this year. 2019 is superb Montrose but I believe 2020 will edge it, 2017 and 2016 are excellent and 2001 is a bit different from the younger vintages but still a splendid one. There was a change of the owner in 2006. ...
