Re: Bdx is the new Bdx

That sounds like a cool program, C-S. Hope it works out.

As far as the comparison between the 95 and 96 vintages of Chasse-Spleen go, well maybe the BD can enlighten us. I understand he's an expert on those two vintages. :-)

Well that took a long time to read. Just who is that Mouton guy? My favourite part had to be the very last entry where after all that spit and venom some guy asks for the url for this site? Too funny. Oh ya, Jim, what was the better year, 95 or 96?

Sounds interesting, but to tell you the truth, I'm to damn lazy to do something like that for myself; even if in the long run it saves you time! Besides, I like the mystery of coming across something I forgot all about.

You're writing a thesis on Dionysian symbolism and Jimi Hendrix?! So, are you a lot younger than I thought you were, or have you decided to return to university to do something you've always wanted to? And for what program/dept would you write a thesis such as that: Religious Studies, Anthropology, ...

Chateau Vin has put me in a rough spot -- I gotta go out so won't be able to read that old Wine Spectator thread until later. I only decided to post as I'm on my way out the door to say -- $160 for Rauzan Segla?! Oh my, I think someone here has made a boo boo in the pricing. Canadian prices are norm...

Is Rauzan Segla the deal of 2009?

I came to this question by way of Brane Cantenac. After reading HWSRN's remarks on BC, I noticed that here in Canada the 09 is near double the price of the 08. That puts it almost at the same level as Rauzan Segla! I then recalled what other super second and super second wannabes have done with thei...

My goodness, I decided to check on the availability of Ch. Labegorce. My local store has both the 08 and 09 (no 10s yet). The shocker is that the 09 is the cheaper of the two! Anyone else find that in their local market?

Re: Poll... In light of HWSRN scores, is 2010 a disappointment?

I voted less than expected. With all the hype, all the Bordelaise claiming 10 was better than 09, I was expecting the Bobber's numbers to be higher, you know, to match the other number which is SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER, the PRICE! For me it was Giscours' score -- what I like to call the G-score -- that ...

There's a few of us left with the resolve of the BD's original ban -- I haven't bought any '10s yet either. Their pricing is making the 05s look so much better, and they have 5 more yrs in bottle. If I do eventually get some 10s, they will probably be off-the-beaten-path sort of stuff, or stuff his ...

I have a case of the 05, and am very glad I do. The 09 is so expensive here I simply refuse to buy it. Instead, I'll go with its stable mate, Haut Batailley, which is 1/3 the price, but by all reports very near it in quality.

I saw some 08 Figeac on the shelves of my local store, so decided to take a look at HWSRN, who wrote: Lean and austere with vegetal characteristics, this dark ruby-colored 2008 reveals a hollow mid-palate and moderate tannins in the finish. There are some complex elements in the aromatics, but that ...
