Re: 2016 Bordeaux futures - anyone biting?

the 2000 Du Tertre was interesting....i think i paid something like $25 and drank my last bottle last year and that was a great bargain. I'm not a buyer at 39 as i'm hoping to pick up more classic Left bank La Lagune is probably a value at $47, but i've chosen to be selective with a half dozen names...

Re: 2016 Bordeaux futures - anyone biting?

Agree Jim....if i can buy futures for $30-$60 at the quality level the 2016's are predicted to be, its a bargain when you compare to other US Cabernet blends at same quality level. I don't see any offers of the wines i'm interested in......where are you buying these days? Thank goodness i only got s...

i find the 2010 Tuscan and Chianti wines to be quite good....i recently went though a stash of Chianti Classico Riservas all for under $25, and have been impressed with the level of complex, balanced wines the region has produced.

Re: Tuna steak

Thats a tough one Nick....

tuna has a steely taste to it and usually does not pair up well with wine.....if you opt for a fattier cut of the tuna, then something with acidity may do well. perhaps a bubbly may pair up well, but i haven't had that combination in years.

i haven't compared the 2015 futures prices and current prices of the same 2015's after some very solid reviews of the vintage have been written, but i suspect there hasn't been any real upside pressure in prices unless its an anomaly where a producer hits one out of the park for that particular year...

With the dollar strength and lack of Parker's enthusiastic 100 point reviews to push prices higher, we may see some reasonable pricing for 2016 futures. If i see there are 4th and 5th growths trading at under $50 a bottle, i'd probably buy a few cases and put them away. I don't expect some of the mo...

You are right...life is a culmination of these special moments as we spend more time reminiscing about them than actually experiencing them.

If the trophy wine brings years of pleasure, even after you've consumed these wines long ago, its worth every dollar spent.

Re: 2010 is not the greatest vintage ever in Bordeaux

One correction regarding alcohol levels. 14.5% alcohol content CAN produce the burning sensation in wine, there are times that that is not the case. Rhone and CDP in particular can somehow integrate higher alcohol amounts into wines successfully. I find this to be less true in Bordeaux, however.

any reason 1989 and 1990 are left out from your vintage chart? i think many here would argue that those vintages although different (as are the 2009 and 2010) have produced a good number of successful wines.

The 2001 Sauterenes are brilliant. I had purchased a few cases due to it being my daughters birth year and can't seem to keep my hands off the bottles. So far the 2001 has been the best QPR from what i've consumed. Have some Latour Blanche in half bottles and appreciate the note.
