Did NH typically buy in France during the first releases? Maybe their buyers couldn't get there, much like BWE'ers at the time?

Glad the wine delivered! The only Durand failure I’ve had was with a soft soaked spongy cork that was longer than the Durand worm. The bottom 1/4” of the cork, below the worm, separated. Yep, the worm in the Durand could be a bit longer. And the ah-so part included in the Durand is too thick and st...

Didn't Mouton have a similar motto while the Baron was campaigning for promotion, along the lines of "First they will not let me be, Second I am not, Mouton does not change?"

London sure seems like a BWE hot spot these days! I've had a few English bubblies - they seem to be on the opposite side from most California sparklers relative to Champagne. More acidity and verve, less fruit and body. I've enjoyed the ones I've tried, but they been genetically selected by the fact...

Well, on very short notice indeed the Comte came up with a fine venue for catching up, eating Afghan food with which we're not very familiar, and sipping a few fine wines. Gail and I are not planning to go at this time.

In 2020, we were at (and in some cases a bit beyond) the capacity limits at many châteaux. We'll free up two spots for new folks, assuming that anyone who was in last time gets first dibs on slots in the new trip.

Don't you avoid the capital gains tax on wine if you trade rather than sell? I guess that taking store credit qualifies as a trade since you never actually receive any financial distribution. Not a tax pro, but no, there are no like-kind exchange rules for collectibles. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (S...

Oh yes they will. Much easier because the labels are always one offs as the wines are bottled, so no specifics to look for on the label of a real bottle.
