On the east side of the foothills there is Loxton. Also Buena Vista is a beautiful old winery. The wines are OK but the setting can't be matched.

One particular wine that is not discussed a lot on here is Montrose 2016. I am sure the 2016 Montrose is a splendid wine Ian. However in my opinion it would be a travesty - perhaps that is too strong a word - to award this coveted BWE accolade to a wine from this vintage when they will never be dri...

Nice purchase stefan. I was tempted, but my Oregon section of the cellar is maxed out.
On an Oregon note, Walter Scott has suspended their wine club starting in 2022 and lasting until March of 2023. No wine to sell because of fire taint.

Happy Thanksgiving BWErs. Hoping your Tday is a satisfying one with family, friends, and Bordeaux. I suspect many of us have Sarah Winchester syndrone. For those who don't know the story, Sarah Winchester was the widow of William Winchester owner of Winchester Repeating Arms. Drouhin is one of my favorites. I'm also very partial to the Dundee hills in general. If you haven't been, make sure to check out White rose, right across the street. Domaine Serene is another one that is fun, a bit commercial but still some very quality wines. Joel, I also have been to White Rose ...

Willamette Valley-October Visit
I stopped and tasted at many wineries on my trip to the Willamette Valley and bought more than a few bottles last month. This is roughly the order of my visits and some thoughts on each. I'm headed up to Willamette Valley tomorrow for a week of pinots and chardonnays. I've enjoyed the 2016 and bought a few cases, which is rare now. I believe Lafon, Siran, Cantemerle, Malartic and Lalagune are well made with excellent balance. What I find particularly pleasing is they are very accessible now but will age nicely.

It depends how you define wine. First "wine" was Spenada which was probably not defined as a wine by today's standard. In the late 60's it was a high school party favorite. First epiphany wine was a Puligny-Montrachet I drank with the senior partners of my firm circa 1976 in a restaurant o...
