Neal Martin is very positive on 2007 Sauternes. I pay more attention to his reviews (particularly Bordeaux) than anyone else at the Wine Advocate. Though I do like David Schildknecht on German wines.

I have no experience with 1972 DRC but I remember enjoying many very nice 1972 Burgundies (both red and white). Don't know that it was a great year in Burgundy but there were some very good wines. Mine are long gone.

Too bad about the Jacquart 1996. I was able to enjoy a fine bottle of this at a DC wine dinner at Dino on Tuesday night. It was just wonderful, very nutty with slight oxidation (in a good way).

There were many compelling wines at that 1989 tasting. I thought the Haut Brion was the best of them all. That's my vote. No objection to Lafite - tasted about 5 points higher than my expectation.

I haven't bought or tried any 2006 Bordeaux.
