I voted St Emilion but that doesn’t mean I dislike it. They are all spectacular, it’s just that somebody has to come last.

Re: The 2014 Chateau Larcis Ducasse has been uncorked and other ramblings....
This wine was absolutely delicious. A little shy on the nose at first but it was open for business on the palate right from the start. I’ve always said 2014 was equally great in the right bank and this is another example. I regret that this was my only bottle as it seems hard to find and the prices ...

We really enjoyed our visit to Branaire Ducru in October. Did you know that their property is spread out in like, I dunno, about ten different parcels all throughout St. Julien. It's not one contiguous property.

Mmm it's been a while since I've had a Lafleur Petrus, and Branaire Ducru is becoming one of my favorite annual best buys.

Man, I thought the 2019 Cantemerle was "the best Cantemerle ever...." Until I tried the 2020 Cantemerle! The 2020 Cantemerle is gorgeous, much different styled from the 2019, richer with more upfront fruit. The 2019 is more classic and reserved. They are obviously at different stages of ev...

I was going to say, that was the golden era of over the top Parkerism. I have one bottle of 2014 Larcis Ducasse, I don’t remember ever having tried that wine.

Definitely a bigger, richer, fruit-forward wine than the 2019....
That is in no way intended as a criticism of 2019, it is just a distinctively different style.

Ha yes that Petrus was one of the first bottles I purchased when I started collecting, I got it for $275 in New Hampshire, I'll never forget the woman cracking open the (lone) case (in the New Hampshire system) in front of me and asking, "How many do you want?" Like an idiot, I said, "...

Thanks G, I'll probably pop down to Portsmouth on Wednesday and see if there's any interesting French wines in stock. I want to get more red Burgundy, when are the 2022s hitting the shelves?

Seems like the Granite State went quiet with the 2019 vintage, if so that was a big mistake....

What was it, a couple years ago, the Farr's tasters sipped the recently bottled 2019 Bordeaux and, without any equivocation, declared it "the greatest vintage ever." And I said, ok, that's great, but come on, how can you declare a vintage the "greatest ever" when you are tasting ...
