The below link is another view of Southwold which is the tasting put on by Farr Brothers and attended by NM. It contains much of the same views, just by a different person.

Wow, I have seen Corbin in ages out here - not since I left San Francisco, which was a long time ago. Always a good QPR back then.

I've had the 2015 a few times now. I find it very pleasant and enjoyable wine. It's a medium plus weight, wood on the nose but well integrated on the palate. Nicely balanced. I would describe this as a modern style of bordeaux, accessible now but has some aging potential. That this point, it does no...

For any BWErs who make it to the Willamette Valley in the future, Momtazi is a beautiful winery and well worth the a visit. There are many wineries with beautiful settings, but so far Momtazi has the most scenic location.

Danderoo, sounds like you have a decent start. Another tactic is to monitor this board. The are many "small" wines that are fantastic. By small I mean inexpensive compared to first growth. David mentioned a few Cantemerle, Sociando, Meyne, La Lagune (at times it is a super bargain), Gloria...

Jim's advice is sound. I would also add, try and find a wine tasting group in your area. The only way to get familiar with good wines (if you are not independently wealthy) is to taste. If you have a small group, you can taste a different region every month or so. One month 2016 Bordeaux, the next C...

Biggest score - 18 bottles of 2003 Pontet Canet for about $35.00 per. It was one of the few large purchases that I could explore a wine from release to old age and not feel guilty. The other was a 1972 Pichon Lalande purchased at my local San Francisco neighborhood wine store in 1976 for around $4.5...

This is a solid wine. The price was $45.00 which seems very reasonable for a 2016 of substance. The nose is not floral in nature, more herbs, loam, and maybe a touch of stem and weed. Subtle and inviting. 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot Well balanced; round, sv...
