Another very good red Bordeaux from the very good 2014 vintage. Not so slutty as some of the riper years (2009 and 2015 for example), more like solid classic Bordeaux. Showed well at the big Conseillante vertical with Marielle Cazaux at the Embassy of France last November.

Good catch, Jim, on the 2014 Pichon Lalande - great price to0!
I think William P also did well to get that 2015 Branaire at a great price.

I think the 1982 Canon, while still good, is now past it’s best. I think the 1982 l’Evangile is still in it’s prime but it was being consumed along with much younger and fruitier wines - which I think affected our perception of it.

Sounds good - menu is very appealing. I like Bistro Biz. We used to do wine dinners there years ago. Last time I ate there was at a fundraiser for Senator Klobuchar. Very convenient to the Hyatt Regency about 1 block away.

I think I’m with Stefan on this one. I like white Burgundy but don’t age it more than a few years so I have to buy some on a regular basis. Always need Champagne. There is plenty of moderately priced red Burgundy that doesn’t need the to be aged for decades (many 2009s and 2012s are drinking well ri...

My only experience with Turley was with those over the top, high alcohol monstrosities. That scared me away from Turley forever.
I have had Geyserville with several years of age and liked them just fine but they are very appealing young.

Ridge Geyserville is still my favorite - it’s a blend that’s generally around 70% Zinfandel. I like the other stuff from Ridge as well so I don’t experiment much anymore.

I have had very good luck with 1970 red Bordeaux so far this month. After a wonderful 1970 La Mission early in the month, had a a young and impressive 1970 Montrose last Friday. It had lots of sediment and tasted more like Northern Rhone than Bordeaux - kind of makes you wonder. The 1970 Talbot we a...

Danny, You know, one critic's 100 point wine isn't necessarily going to be your (or my) idea of a 100 point wine. Had a few 100 pointers that I didn't even want to drink - might be great in 20 or 30 years. That being said, I thought the 1982 was really really good but too young. And the 1982 Haut Br...

I started out with La Mission almost exclusively (of the two) in the late 1970s and early 1980s, drinking the 1964, 1966, 1967 and 1970 so I don't really have much experience with 1960s or early 1970s Haut Brion.
