6 each of 2019 Ch Langoa Barton and La Lagune. Really like this vintage especially the left bank. 24 bottles of Justin Girardin 2019 and 2020 Santenay, SLB and Chassagne Montrachet 1ers Crus reds 6 each 2018 Muga Rioja Riserva and 2019 Condado de Haza Crianza Ribera de Deuro, two Spanish wines I’ve ...

Re: 2007 Bordeaux... Thoughts.
Robert Scratching my head a little to recall all this. The tasting I referred to did not show much of interest in 2007. I’ve drunk a few 2007 Bordeaux since then were quite good but 2007 will always be a lesser vintage. As for Burgundy I still don’t think much of 2004 or 2007 accepting that there ar...

Re: Bordeaux 2019 In Bottle Tasting at FarrVintners
Jim Giscours was winner of one of the two 2019 tastings I did last year. I’m doing another in a few weeks so will try how some wines are going. I like the 2019 vintage a lot. However some right bank wines were pushing the friendship with hi alcohol, and my some decades of experience with hi alcohol ...

Re: Bordeaux 2019 In Bottle Tasting at FarrVintners
Guys Well Farr Vintners have stolen my reviews of 2019 calling it the “real deal” well I said that some months ago. Also agree with much of their commentary but I still rate 2016 as a more classic and structured vintage and I wonder if these tasters are old enough to recall 1982 young? That vintage ...

Guys I tried the 1989 Cantemerle at a retailer tasting last week. I didn’t take notes and historically haven’t really be wowed by this wine. The wine was in excellent condition and I would not have picked Cantemerle. Rather it had that iodine, pencil lead and inky character of dome St Juliens (GL or...

Guys Has anyone tried the 2019 estate wine (Ch Lynch Bages)? One local importer is offering it to me t a fair price and I was actually considering biting. After this note, I'm going to avoid it without more info. I'm not saying that the Grand Vin is a disaster BUT if the second wine is poor, it does...

A question about US wine distributors

The estate is located near Pisa and produces high quality IGT wines from both international and Italian varieties. Their best wines is called P...

Re: What are your top ten favorite estates?
Guys I did not answer until now as I was - and are still somewhat - confused by the meaning of "favourite". It seems from the comments made so far that most are focusing on the wines they buy and drink the most often. So if someone else is paying, I suppose the list may be a bit different....

Lovely. Has anyone really had a mature LLC? Tasting notes always seem to end with give another 5 years. I finished off a case of 1975 before leaving Australia- thus all gone by 2009. I drank several in the late 90s and loved it. It was not the tannic monster I expected and was to my palate the best...

Guys Not had the Montrose unfortunately but so far I’ve tried at least 34 2019s covering many appellations and was uniformly surprised at how drinkable they have been. Despite trying to convince myself that I have more than enough already, I bought more last week including Langoa Barton and La Lagun...

Guys with very few exceptions I no longer buy old wines. The oldest I have bought in the last five years were 2005 vintage Bordeaux and Burgundy. It is too risky in Singapore to bug local stock so the back vintages I buy are European sourced. I’ve bought a few 1995 premiers crus and a few oldish por...

Re: Poll: Is Latour Overrated?
Guys The answer to the poll I gave was Margaux as the nose and palate are exotic and complex - there is a wonderful berry character that is hard to describe in rational terms as it seems to offer so many flavours. Like many others, it was off form probably up to the late 70s but I’ve had lesser vint...

Ian D’arenberg is a pretty reliable estate with lots of rather comical names for their wines. I generally like them but not too often. I like the Dead Arm but sometimes it is far too oaky and with that vanilla & coconut character of American oak. The region itself is quite good to visit. Not far...

Jim I’ve been drinking Pavelot SLBs for some decades. They are very good for the appellation with rich fruit and good structure. Guys In my case, it was Faiveley probably more than any other producer though I don’t like the style of some of their wines more recently. Going back some decades, Faiveley wines were easy to find, reasonable value and well made and better than wines from some of the other big estates at the time. I...

Various notes from the holiday season.
It has been a typically Singaporean holiday season. Hot, wet, balmy. It tends to sap the energy and makes me want to stay indoors. So with some friends I've drunk quite a lot of wine with a few surprises. I think I now need a detox for this week. Oh well. 2015 Remoissenet Givry. Last bottle from the...

Guys
It used to be called Amber wine - not sure why it's now called Orange instead.
I've tried a few in central Europe and a few from Australia including the well-to-do Cullen.
Yes there is a lot of skin contact and some oxidative characters and frankly I could not be bothered.

Guys The 1982 is likely to be in decline. I last tried it a few years ago and it was okay but disappointing. I agree with David and Eric. But the interesting thing to me is that I often prefer the slightly less acclaimed vintages. Helps that they are at cheaper prices. The 02 is great. I like the 96. Burgundy aging seems non linear, so wines can go in and out of being “ready” instead of passing a definitive aging line and being ready for good But 2012 is a particularly tricky year, going to take a while to come around… I’ve been drinking village and lesser 1er Cru 2012 Burgundies over the last ...

Guys One point about the Remoissenet reds from the old regime.
