Re: TN: 2003 Château Cos d'Estournel (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe)

Did we even try the 2013 Pontet Canet?
I don't think we did.
The only thing I recall about the 2013 Pontet Canet was Alfred Tesseron telling us that he "wished he had more...."

Stefan... mon ami... How many 2013s have you tasted beyond the 2013 La Lagune we had in 2015?
I personally have tasted, um... zero.
I don't know how ANYONE can make an assessment of 2013.
Myself, personally, as I have said several times, I thought the 2013 100% cab La Lagune was just fine.

2002 Leoville Barton:Some 90 pointers are better than others

Had this the other night, it is wonderfully austere, vegetal, restrained, green, classic, non-extracted, low alcohol, cedary, stoic, staid... There was no severed arm, no dismemebered trunk of a man in his late fifties. No head in a bag. Nothing. Not a sausage. A complete absence of any tiny but tel...

Re: 2017 Pomerols

I recall that '98 Gazin as a "big" wine.
I liked it too, although I thought it was quite different from the voluptuous 1990 Gazin, one of my Top 20 greatest wine experiences.

Re: President Trump

And meantime it has been 50 years this week that Robert Kennedy was assassinated.
I don't think this country has ever recovered from the triple blows of November 22, 1963, April 4, 1968, and June 5, 1968.

Agreed, Jon, although a lot of it is relative, of course. When I was mayor in the early '90s this area was basically in a depression. More people are working today, but, of course, the bigger question is whether they are making a livable wage. https://www.pressherald.com/2018/03/23/unemployment-rate...

I'm sipping on a 2014 Meyney, my last alcohol to be consumed between now and June 12th when I have a big argument before the Maine Supreme Court.

Interesting perspective, Felix.
Yes, David stole my thunder, being a fan of 1986, I’ll take it.
I don’t have a lot of 2005 in my cellar: A case of Duhart Milon, five bottles each of d’Issan, Brane Cantenac, and Grand Mayne, a few other bottles here and there.

2003 Bordeaux is like the 2016 U.S. presidential election. There was a Maine domestic violence gun ban case that went up to the Supreme Court a couple years ago, that's the only one I can think of. The 2005 Barde Haut is still very young at the 13 year mark.
