Ah, good question
But my lovely wife had the fish and I had the veal. We didn't want two glasses of different wines and preferred a whole bottle.
Sancerre was a good compromise

Re: Loire Valley visit, long, very few wine notes
Hi Alex. Thank you for your comments Quasi de veau we had many times. That was the first and only time we were asked how we wanted it cooked. And yes we did answer rosé 😁. The headwaiter was still annoyingly stuffy, I guess he didn't approve of pairing it with a white Sancerre 🙄 We didn't complain a...

Loire Valley visit, long, very few wine notes
We landed in France Saturday morning and rented a car at the airport heading to Amboise, on the way we stopped in Chartres to see the magnificent cathedral; absolutely stunning stained glass windows, enormous nave, very impressive. We then walked around the outdoor Saturday market where the best pro...

Thank you for posting this, you nailed Tokyo! We loved the place but we were also charmed by the rest of Japan. Kyoto, Kurashiki, Okayama and countless other places. Very nice Alex I must admit my taste is more Larmandier Bernet than Heidsieck. The d'Angerville Volnay Champans is always so seductive and lovely. Too bad prices have skyrocketed The Trimbach I love and is always a crowd pleaser. 2004 is probably my favorite Bordeaux vintage of the 21st century (go ...

Re: 1998 dinner - mainly Graves and Right Bank
Just lovely to revisit all these old favorites Ian Les Carmes and La Tour Haut Brion were both great in their youth. I remember the 1998 La Mission opened a few years ago as being just incredible, more open and accessible than the 1996 in any case. The Pape and the Conseillante gave a lot of pleasur...

I am a little more on the fence about this than you guys. But he jerked them around for a year and a half.” But I also don't think ...

I don't speak for all of BWE, my opinion is that you should send at least half the wine to OR. That will still be cheaper than a buying spree.

I also like Torrontes but it doesn't fit your good acidity request. It reminds me of a lighter gewurztraminer.

Why only 400-500 bottles? Why not move most of the bottles from Texas to Oregon now? Just leave enough in Texas for the next couple of years.

Instead of paying $80 on a not so good Burgundian replica, you should go straight to your neighborhood store and clear them out of the 2015 LdH Gravonia for exactly half as much before they are all gone. I thought I read/heard somewhere that the old Martinelli 'Jackass Hill' Zins were able to hit 17% abv naturally, although not sure what kind of yeasts can keep working at that concentration. Re: Is 15 the new 12?
It is very difficult for me to generalize, I have hated a lot of 13%-14% wines from Bordeaux that are syropy, unbalanced and manipulated and yet that 2010 Troplong Mondot at 16% was balanced and exuberant with good acidity and without being overly sweet.
