Re: Sipping '05 Barde Haut, trying to save the world....
Ha thanks. This was an incredible case. we had a security camera from way down the street that showed the car pull up way in the distance. We magnified the image 430% but the pixelated image was too blurry to determine whether got out of the car. Our client was screaming all the time that he never g...

Re: Sipping '05 Barde Haut, trying to save the world....
Yeah, it's a pretty scary business, criminal defense, there are many innocent people charged with crimes, especially as the courts, from the U.S. Supreme Court on down, have systematically eroded civil liberties over the past 40 or so years. It is very scary when you are the only person standing bet...

Sipping '05 Barde Haut, trying to save the world....
Man, it's been a busy year. Hopefully I can take a little time off this winter and road trip through some warmer climes! Got charges dropped against a guy accused with kidnapping the other day. The "victim" recanted her story after a small sliver from a security camera from a building acro...

I'd like to visit St. Innocent someday.
Not sure I buy enough from them annually Stefan for their wine club to make sense for me.
What is the marginal number of bottles where it begins to pay off?

Ordering from St. Innocent.
That place really seems to have its act together.
15% mixed case discount especially makes it worthwhile.
Just ordered 6 bottles each of 2014 Momtazi and Shea vineyards.
These wines are great, at rational prices.

Re: Lunch today with Maine Governor Paul LePage in Lewiston.
He actually doesn't drink anymore. He's an animal. I had to yell at him a couple times... not in any hostile way, but to just get him out of his political ADHD. He took a doggie back from Davinci's back with him into his state police limousine. I really tried to be his best bud at the table, but he ...

Lunch today with Maine Governor Paul LePage in Lewiston.
I was actually looking forward to meeting this cat. We dined in Davinci's Italian restaurant, in a renovated section of an old Lewiston textile mill, a section in which I toiled while working my way through law school back in the early 80s. Very anti-climactic. There were six of us at the table, he ...

Now we just lost Walter Becker.
He and Glenn Campbell were at the very top of my musical influences.
Devastating losses to the music world, but such, I guess, is life.

Re: 2005 Jadot Beaune Premier Cru with Maine lobster rolls.
This village Burg is a 30 year wine! A brilliant effort. NO sign of aging. Having said that, though, there are no signs either of sharp tannins, angularity, etc. This puppy is amazingly smooth and balanced. I'm sorry, folks... From what I can see, 2005 Burgundy is epic. When "village" wine...

So, it may be a little ten day road trip.

Haven't had many of the village 2005 Burgs yet Harry, but I just uncorked a 2005 Jadot Beaune Premier Cru. "Cracked open" the cardboard case. First sips are VERY promising. Those Potels have been bleh but another producer I had last year -- Grivois is it? something like that -- was in a re...

Re: TN: 2005 Nicolas Potel Volnay Vieilles Vignes
I recall uncorking one of these about a year ago and being similarly disappointed.
It was disappointing because it was a wine that was quite delicious when young.
I've got another 3-4 in the cellar that I'll probably unload at family cookouts, etc.

I'm pretty much wondering whether my case was damaged somewhat.
The bottle I had with Michael P was pretty good, and another bottle was very good.
The rest have been not corked but they just seem flat.

I'm not surprised by this note.

I bought a bottle of the 2014.

2012 Brunello Il Poggione... Nice.
Really nice, elegant, smooth, ripe, round tannins, no sharp edges.
Can't remember what I paid, I'm sure it was a bit overpriced, but it was an enjoyable effort.
Went down very smoothly.
A strong 92 points, although I'm sure not quite worth whatever it was I paid for it.
